Thumbs up

Hey! Its me again. Hehe.

Well, I was just wondering something.

I've been seeing these type of headlights...their like a light/clear blue. Nicer, in my opinion, then the yellow-ish headlights on most cars.

My question is (If anyone has any idea of what I'm talking about): What type of headlights are these? Are they tinted? A light blue light blub?

Or...maybe their just clear...Maybe.

Hm...that makes sense!
Thanks!

Thank you! I used to have these blue bulbs too, before I bought the Silverstars.. they might be more of what you're talking about. I got them at Walmart for like 2 or 3 dollars. Hope this helps. Check your local laws first before you buy them.

Or you could be talking about the HID's. If so, those are pretty expensive.

Are they availible in a store? Cuz once you add shipping & Handling and convenience of Wal-Mart into it all, it'll come out to about the same...

I use MTEC 4X bulbs. they're noticably brighter and whiter than the silverstars I had in a while ago and they have that nice, slight blueish tint to them. the only thing is that you'll need high temp plugs for them....they'll fry the stock plugs in a hurry...learned that the hard way <_< I picked up the plugs at pep boys for something like 6 bucks a piece. the bulbs I got off ebay...20 for the pair i believe. I've had 'em in for almost a year now and they're still runnin strong.

im not really that impressed with my silverstars. they are a improvement, and the white is much better than the yellow, i may try those phillips ones.

those streetglow bulbs, are 80watts, instead of our 55watts. and yes, they will burn up your plug harness, it happened to one of my headlights in my aurora, i was able to scrap all the melted plastic away and still use them though.

the thing that sucks, is they are more powerful, but then they tint them blue, which makes them less bright, still ends up being a little brighter. i wish they'd make a 65 or 70w "silverstar" type one. ive heard of people adapting the silverstar highbeam to fit in the low beam spot, anyone ever try that?

I actually thought about using a 9005 bulb for the low beam. it wouldnt be too hard either. just get a 9005 plug (its not the same as 9006), cut off the 9006 and solder in the 9005, plug in the bulb and your done. i'm not sure about glare though...you'd have to be careful not to blind other drivers..and you could get pulled over for them being too overly bright. thats why HID's in our stock lowbeam housings are not a good idea...yeah its better lighting...but way too much glare.

^^^ thats what i just said. i knew a guy did it on one of my other forums, a aurora forum, ill see if i can find it. using 65 watts instead of 55 wouldn't find anything

anyways, i did a little "resarch" and it seems other people also say the phillips vision plus is much better than silverstars, and about half the price

I've had the streetglow ones, and they burned out my harness after a while. The only ones I have used that havn't burned out my harnesses are Silverstars and real HIDs. I would suggest getting silverstars or trying those phillips bulbs. I might try them myself this spring.
