i had my neighbor install some 6x9's in the back of my car and they sound like crap. He said he knew what he was doing but i guess he didnt. I have the monsoon sound system and i was just wondering how to make the speakers sound right. The old speakers had the clips that clipped into the wiring but he cut both clips off and just fused the new speakers into the wiring but he left two wires not connected to anything....this may sound confusing but i dont know how to fix it....anybodys incite would be helpful...

VERY, VERY BAD INSTALL JOB. Whatever wires were disconnected (cut free) should have been re-wired back the exact same way. When i did mine, there were not "extras".

You don't splice all four wires togeather. I have said this before and I will say it again. BAD, BAD, BAD. The tweeter is on one channel of the amp (4ohm) and the woofer is on a seperate (2ohm)channel. This is called a bi-amped setup. The amp has a built in crossover dedicated for each channel. This means that the tweeters only see the highs and the woofers only see the lows. Your new speakers are currently setup with only one channel and thus are only getting one set of frequencies. You have two choices. Buy a set of bi-amped speakers, or remove the monsoon amp from the equation. The second is the easiest method. The HU is still sending out about fourteen watts to the rear channels. Trace the rear, left and right speaker wires to the monsoon amp. Cut these wires and send it directly to your new 6x9's. You won't have the 25 watts from the monsoon amp, but you will have all of your frequencies.
Warning: By splicing all four wires togeather, you will be running two amp channels to the same speaker. This will result in blown speakers, and could damage the amp. In fact, the added resistance could cause a electrical fire.

This is what you want:
E4,E5,E6,E7 are the rear speaker outputs from your deck. find those on your monsoon amp, cut them, then splice that wire and go directly to your rear 6x9's, those wires should not go to the amp now (so dont do a T connection) like the other mike said, you wont get as much power, but they will work and sound "right"
E1 LT GRN Right Front Speaker Output (+)
E2 TAN Left Front Speaker Output (+)
E3 GRY Left Front Speaker Output (-)
E4 LT BLU Right Rear Speaker Output (-)
E5 DK BLU Right Rear Speaker Output (+)
E6 BRN Left Rear Speaker Output (+)
E7 YEL Left Rear Speaker Output (-)
E8 BLK Ground
E9 BLK Ground
E10 DK GRN Antenna Relay Coil Supply Voltage
E11 ORN Battery Positive Voltage
E11 ORN Battery Positive Voltage
E13 BLK Left Front Tweeter Speaker Output (+)
E14 YEL Left Front Tweeter Speaker Output (-)
E15 DK BLU Left Front Midrange Speaker Output (+)
E16 LT BLU Left Front Midrange Speaker Output (-)
F1 DK GRN Right Front Speaker Output (-)
F2 LT GRN Right Front Speaker Tweeter Output (+)
F3 PPL Right Front Speaker Tweeter Output (-)
F4 PPL Left Rear Tweeter Speaker Output (-)
F5 RED Left Rear Tweeter Speaker Output (+)

Okay, so instead of splicing left and right, here's a simple solution. Go buy some new speaker wire and run the new wire directly from the head-unit back to the speakers. This will bypass the facotry amp all together. You can just leave those other wires just hang there, they won't be recieving signal anymore b/c the head unit won't be sending a signal to the amp for the rear speakers.

thats exactly what he will be doing with that setup, bypassing the amp, only he wont have to run wires from the HU, he can run them starting in the trunk to save alot of time and wire (6x9's should have come with enough wire to do this, not enough to start at the deck)

but really, how much is speaker wire?? CHEAP! It saves work when he goes to trade the car in, all he has to do is just plug the factory speakers back in and pull out the wire, rather than splicing back in...
Either one is a good option, it just depends on how much work you wanna put in. I mean while you got the whole back of the car torn apart, why not just run new wire and save a major headache

oh, if you have a new aftermarket cd player, i would bypass all oem wiring for speakers, and run the wires strait from the deck to the rear speakers, same thing if you replace the fronts too.
i didn't relieze the car was torn apart, i thought it was all put back together, which is why i wouldn't want to tear all the panel crap apart, pull the radio out and everything when you can just tap in in the back......but defintatly run new wires with a aftermarket deck, thats better power than our monsoon amp most likely anyways.

none
get 5.25's, they'll fit without modding anything.
i think im going to try and squeeze some phoenix gold 6" octane zr's in.
for the price, i also like the mtx 6000 speakers. i heard the 6.5's, although they wont fit, they sounded awesome for there price, never heard the 5's, but i know they'll fit.
