i installed phoenix gold octane zr 6.0 components up front. measurments say there 2.5" deep, but i measured 2.3". anyways i put them on a 3/4" mdf ring, and positioned them as close to the bottom/front as i could. they cleared the window (barely) but they stuck out to the point were the door panel was touching them. i was able to trim about 1/4" off the door panel, so now i could get the door panel on perfectly fine, but the panel pushed so hard against the grille of the speaker it kept caving it in, so when the bass hit it sounded like poop. then i found a cardboard ring and spaced the grille out so that even when it caved in it was far enough away from the speaker not to hit it. that works, but the door panel doesn't snap in completly in that corner. im not worried about it, you cant tell and the door closes fine

all in all, 6's are a pain in the ass, unless you can somehow adapt them to fit the stock mount, which didn't seem possible with my speakers......go 5.25's and adapt them to the stock mounts

also, if i did it over, id mount any speaker on a 1/2" ring instead, then space out the opposite corner if needed.......but i didn't have any, and was tired of F-ing around with these

I used these when I installed my components. Made it tons easier and I didn't have to cut into the door panel.

You take the 4x6 mounts out and position them over the hole behind them and screw them onto the door. Done.

gotcha.....my speakers are to deep for that. with the 3/4" ring, the speaker about touches the track, only way to get them fit better is to tilt it on a 1/4" board or somthing, and i dont have the tools to rip a board at a angle like that

You can tell from the picture but those are angled. The bottom sticks up about 3/4" and the top is about 1/2". I got an extra set at my house I'll try and get a sideways pi tonight to show what I'm talking about.

I just went to Best Buy and told them I needed some 6.5" speaker adapters for a 95 Cavalier. They gave me a set with the open box price of $4.00. I don't know the part number because they didn't come with packaging.
