just ordered a fairly high rated pioneer premiere, found it for pretty cheap...279 with free shipping and installation kit..can also create your own animations and screen savers on your pc, and put them in the unit.

yea, it lists for 500 i believe, and i found it for 280...
the funny thing is i got if from sonic, but they sell stuff on ebay too, this was on ebay for 280 and sonic for 310
also will control a dvd receiver in case you want to mount one remotely... as well as XM and a CD Changer.... has all the 6.5v preouts you'll need, built in high and low pass filters, and EASY mp3 scrolling with the rotary dial.

Eclipse CD8454. Flip down face with vacume florecent dislplay. They are expensive and don't offer the visual appeal of newer lcd's. But they are the most visible display on the market. I have never had a single point that the display is washed out. I even have the contrast turned down 1/4 of the way. MP3, WMA, Atrac3, changer and dvd control (for eclipse units). Three sets of preouts at 8 volts. Aux in. Digital in and digital out. Phase adjustment. A extremely low impedance of 55 ohms. 116db of dynamic range with 24bit Bur Brown Docs.  A memory stick slot for saving songs, custom settings, and uploading to there server. A mic plugs into the aux to record your sound stage. It can then configure your system or help you to fix peaks. Alpine has the same thing. Now the good stuff. 8 parametric eq's and 13 graphic. Adjustable filters and slopes from 6 to 24db octaves. I think that the only thing I don't like is the filters. All of my speakers are either componant or have external crossovers added. List price is 600 us. Factory price is 300 US. B) The work does have some benefits.

I forgot to rate it. I would go with a 8.5 The lack of satelite radio (added to the o5's damnit) and styling lower the score. My favorite radio of all time was 5440 by eclipse. Simple design but looked great. I might add that I don't think a HU can ever have a 10 unless it costs under 10 dollars. Throw in a free porno star (for the long drives) and you have a 11.

When I bought this i thought this was the best! I liked the blacked out face when it is off, it really apealed to me, 52x4, tons of controls ,can't change the colors, but it does what its supposed to do, i love it. but 8 out of 10, ( i know there are better but i'm satisfied. :P

I have the same Sony in my Trans Am, paid $350.00 from Crutchfield when it first came out. Where did you get it for $250.00, the factory CD player isn't working on my Alero, so I'm looking for a replacement. If I can get the Sony for $250.00 I'll buy it.

you can hook an ipod up to the stock radio with an adapter. or any deck with aux in.
unless of course you meant you can control the ipod with an alpine and adapter?

There are two ways to hook up a ipod to a stock. The first is through a fm modulator. The other method requires that your factory HU have a cd changer control. The ipod wires into this as a aux. I also agree with formulanerd. Buy the features that you will use. Just be certain to look into the future for what you might need as well.
