I just got an oil change done on my car, normally I do it myself but with the bad weather I didn't want to be crawling around on the ground. I took my own oil and filter and got a shop to do it.

I just got back to work and noticed that it's about half an inch over the crosshatches, is this really bad for the engine? I've heard people say its just as bad to have to much as to little?

Also, I think that they might not have put the black plastic piece back on under the oil filter. When I look down the engine bay at the oil filter, I can see the ground underneath it. I dont ever remember being able to see the ground, I thought the black plastic piece covered it? I cant get under to check because I am in dress clothes and its all slushy out today.

What does everyone on here think before I go back in kicking and screaming?

4 or 6? I think I can see the ground around my oil filter. the oil thing I have heard that too...was the car warm when you checked the marks and on level ground? If so then I would ask them to make sure you are not over. You might have bought more than the car holds and they just used it all.

The oil level seems OK and the black plastic piece goes right under the filter (if you have the 3400) you can see the ground looking in the motor bay, but if you look from the side of the car and look down, you'll see the plastic piece.
