Ok, after much much much reading and posting and research I think I have decided on my car audio upgrade. Its pretty much my original idea, but now I know more about why I chose what I did. Here we go:
Profile A1040 4 channel Amp. 80 watts rms x 4 and 225 watts rms bridged.
Infinity Reference 1030w 10 inch sub 250 watts RMS
I will build my own box with 3/4 MDF = ~$25 (if this is a wrong guess someone correct me)
Amp wiring kit = ~$30
Total cost (thezeb.com and sounddomain.com) + amp kit and box = $233.49
-------
I plan on bridging the amp to run the sub, and then using channels 1 and 2 to give some extra juice to the stock 4x6's.
If I decide the stock 4x6 just won't cut it, then I will take them out and put in a set of
Infinity Reference 6000cs 6 1/2 inch components with 1inch tweeters. 90 watts RMS. I can get these for $122 from sounddomain.
-------
Now, it just comes down to committing the money and guts to do it. I have to install myself, because this is already my max budget. I have never installed before, so I'm sure it is going to be a bitch to do.
I'm a little mad, because yesterday the 6000cs were only $105 from sounddomain. They are still on sale at $122, hopefully they drop again when I am ready for them.
I need to wait to save up a few more dollars, and for some warmer weather, but this should be in the near future. I am still very nervous about it all, partly about installing it, and the rest because I haven't actually heard these speakers/sub, even though I know they are great.
I need a little peer pressure...
