After Rev posted his cleaned calipers i thought i might do mine as well. After seeing how new they can look i just had to try. (thanx Rev :thumbsup: )
I was gonna do the rotors as well but it started to rain. 
This is what they looked like before

was thinking on painting them white but after i cleaned them today i saw that the silver matches my car more.

i used a steel wool tool and some strong grit sandpaper. dont remember the number, you'll need a lot of elbow greese. Most of the crap comes off easy its just the small places are hard to reach.

i mean my car was my baby, but never in my life would i have spent 3 hours cleanin the brake calipers.

You will still want to paint them clear or the corrosion will build up again. If you have a wire wheel put a brass brush on the end. they cost about four dollars and pollish with low abbrasion. If not, dremel makes a few attachments for polishing as well. They just take longer.
A small suggestion is to rebuild the caliber while it is out. The rebuild kit is cheap and might save future problems with worn seals.

man the calipers look so nice when you clean them.........when i threw on the rotors i cleaned them up a bit and man they look good.......

it will look 300X better if you atleast get a wire brush and get the tough crap off before you paint them.
This last time was the second time I painted my calipers, I had to replace the ones I replaced before, and this time it look soooo much better since I cleaned them first |

Yea, i woke up this morning sore as all hell. It was worth it though.

they make drill bits and dremel attachments where there's a circular piece of metal with steel wool on the tip of it kind of like this:

|
makes things like that a million times easier. the drill or dremel does all the work for you. you'll still need sandpaper or a piece of steel wool to get in the spots that the tool can't reach but it will cut down on time and effort.
the metal stick should be in the middle of the metal circle.

Clearcoat paint will just flake off, the calipers get extremely hot. That's why you have to use special paint on them that can withstand high temperature.  issed:

i'd do the newbish thing and go red to maek em look like baer brakes... plus i think red looks good on calpiers. . .
wow those do look really good though... when i ahve to change my brakes i may decided to clean and paint mine. . .
