I DO PLAN ON SUPERCHARGING THE CAR IN THE FUTURE, BUT WHEN I DO IT SAYS IT COMES WITH ALL NEEDED HARDWARE AND ACCESSORIES, BUT WHAT OTHER THINGS WOULD I NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO HANDLE THE 6 PSI OF BOOST I'M GONNA KEEP IT ON? I'VE HEARD THE CAR CAN HANDLE 6 PSI WITH NO INTERNAL MODS BUT I FIGURED I WOULD ASK ANYWAYS.

So if I buy the 6 psi kit for 3900.00 than I should be fine with internals and stuff?

You should be OK. Speaking about the 3400 kit the upgrade has bigger injectors.
RSM sells a good kit. Everything you need, you get. Inclueding a PCM

Makes sense....personally if they still offer it Id take advantage of it that way they will be sure its running and possibly be able to fine tune for you at little or no extra cost at their main facility.

Their site says nothing about a night in a hoe-tell or needing to be installed on site... it says that about some of their exhausts... but not for the ecotec kits.
Hopefully at the end of the summer i will be able to get the stage 2 kit.
Or at least thats the plan..

I think it's OUTRAGEOUS to pay $3900 for the RSM supercharger kit when for less than $3900 you can get the WHOLE supercharged Ecotec from GM.

A Guy in my club with a 2002 Grand Am Coupe SE with the ecotec and 5-Speed manual just put in the RSM stage 1 Supercharger. He loves it! I haven't driven in it yet though.

Ummm yea... the GMPP crate dosent make as much power as the RSM kit, and its a TOTALLY differant type of kit. The RSM kit comes with PCM, injectors, ETC

yea the crate engine stuff is total BS unless your looking at a full blown out racing engine thats not gonna last a season or something....but the best bet for an engine that will handle a good amount of boost while giving a good life span is the 2.0L ecotec outta the ion or cobalt ss....supercharged making 205HP and will withstand a little more than the 2.2 because of the even bore/stroke ratio making it a little more stable....i remember a while back i saw one of those engines go for about $2100 on ebay, but i dont remember what all came with it, i think it even had the manual transmission mated to it, but i do remember when i saw it i thought "thats a hell of a deal"

The GM crate engine IS the 2.0 Ecotec "LSJ" out of the cobalt/ION. Don't forget that it's not just a kit slapped on a regular engine either. It's got other advantages like having the piston oil squirters, etc....

here's what rsm's website says about the stage one kit:
Stage I RSM Supercharger Kit
Includes Vortech Supercharger, all brackets and oil lines, belt and pulleys, ECU programming, adjustable blow-off valve, FMU, induction piping and K&N cone filter. All the parts needed for the install are included in the kit, no extras to buy, 60 HP gain at 6 PSI with no other mods. - $3500
so a 60hp gain would make 200hp. the new ecotec makes 205hp plus its built for boost. but you'd have to worry about a new ECU for that engine, which may or may not be a big deal. so for $3465, i'd say the 2.0L factory supercharged ecotec isnt a bad solution...providing it bolts right up to the stock motor mounts and tranny.

couldn't the rsm kit be tweaked for the automatic to push more than 6 psi to get more horsepower. like with different pulleys and that. or did rsm already do that?
And how much do you think it would be to install this since rsm no longer does that? More or less than getting the entire 2.0 crate motor?
