Service Engine Soon Light

Well as if my day isn't bad enough on my way to lunch my Service Engine soon light came on. I did a search and couldn't find much info.

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Nothing sounds any different, then again I don't know a whole lot about cars either, but thats why I am here lol.

Check your gas cap, it is probably the most common reason why the service engine soon light comes on.

Yeah. Stupid gas cap is the most likely culprit if nothing seems wrong. Check it, make sure it's tight, then bring it to AutoZone. They can check and clear it.

Wow that could be it? My friend put gas in it last so maybe he put it in wrong.

Mine came on recently too, this is the 3rd time since I got the car, and the past two times it went off in a couple of days. There's actually some decent info on it in the owner's manual, that'll give you an idea of stuff to check. When I mentioned the light to someone, they suggested checking the air filter, which I did and it's lookin kinda grungy, so I picked up the K&N cleaning kit and plan to get that puppy cleaned up this weekend.

I checked the gas cap and that was it, my buddy didn't put it back on right. Scared me for a little bit though lol

We've all been there. Of course it happened to me right after my egr valve got fixed. So I'm thinking it's going to start stalling and not starting, etc, again.
