Tinted Tail Lights- Not A ''how To''

So I want to tint my taillights, just a few shades, not too dark. Does anyone know about the legal limits about smoked tail lights? Most cars that have dark taillights have reflectors on the body somewhere else where as with our aleros the reflectors are inside the taillights so i think that those need to still be visible????? i dont know
