I have a 2001 alero with a 2.4L in it. first off i want to know if there is anything i can do to the trans to make it shift harder, and hold up under a turbo. second after i solve my trans problem what is a good route for me to go on getting a turbo kit for my car, and woudl it be better to build one for it.

Welcome aboard.
I believe your tranny questions have answers waiting for you under the Performance section.

Welcome.
If you do a turbo, or a s/c you'll need a new PCM. That can be programed to shift your tranny harder

welcome to the family.
for turbo best to make your own kit.
for tranny, use either B&M or interceptor to shift harder

well thanx about the tranny question. so do you know what might be a good route on a turbo. i was going to get rid of my car and get soemthing rear wheel drive but i like the car. i just want it to have more power. this is the first alero site i have been to. i don;t really know anything about them other than they go things in common with cavy's and sunfires.

i have read a lot about the b&m shift thing. i went to both of the site and tried to find out if b&m or the other company made one for my year but they did not have one listed.

first of all, I hate to burst your bubble, but theres a lot to a turbo and regardless if you buy a kit or piece it together yourself, its almost impossible to just bolt up a kit and be ready to go....i suggest buying Corky Bells "Maximum Boost" book, well worth the money and explains in more detail about all the little tidbits that will make your turbo setup work better, and it also breaks it down into sections on important parts for turbo setups. Regardless I recommend being very knowledgeable (do lots of research) that way you know what your doing when you start running it, and if you learn about them you can probably piece together a kit a lot cheaper than just buying one as a kit. I have been off and on researching a turbo kit for my ecotec and learned a ton about them that I never knew would even affect the engine and all.

you need to find a decent speed shop that can do custom work.......if you don't know about how to get a pcm reflashed or tuned then i wouldn't suggest building a turbo setup yourself either.........or at least start reading and doing a lot of research before you start.......a decent custom speedshop could do everything for you though for a decent price........

well i know that it is going to be pain to do this setup with a turbo, but i want a sleeper car. i know i am not going to be breaking any records lol, but i do want to have a little pep to my car. i am trying to find out if there is a decent shop here in southern va. i am sure with all these navy people around here i will find one when i get the cash. they are all about making slow things fast around here.
