Hey guys,
Small problem on my alero 2003 gls. When I am on the highway and driving over 80 km/h when I press the brake lightly or normally to slow down. My steering wheel starts to vibrate. To the point where you can hear my watch from the vibration. Any idea what is causing this? when i drive under 80km/h I get no vibration of any kind.
Thanks!

your hub, rotors, it could be a number of things. Mine vibrated right around there too and I busted a tie rod on my drivers side. its in the shop getting fixed right now. If i were you, i would check your rotors first. Mine always made noise so it was easy to tell.

i am almost 100% sure that it's your rotors and that they are warped.........the dealer will probably just grind them a little for you and turn them.......that is only a temporary solution until you warranty runs out........out stock brakes suck ass.........i would reccomend a full rotor and pad replacement........

Hey I have the same problem although taking my to the dealership is a bit more of a hassle. My alero was bought from a Lincoln dearlership so they always have to go next door(gm dealer) to get my car fixed.... would it be better just to buy some slotted rotors off of ebay?

In my past, this was a good symptom of warped rotors... i've been through a few sets of brakes in the front (pads and rotors) but have yet to replace my rears... this is my biggest pet peeve about my car.

brought it to the dealer today and they replaced my two front discs. Apperantly they were used to much they said they were too thin. That fixed my problem and we can now go back to smooth driving!

I beleive I have the same problem, when braking from high speeds it's rough as hell. steering wheel vibrating, petal vibrating, almost scary some times, maybe I should grab some new rotors and pads, what's the front rotors and pads going to run me up?

if your car vibrates at 70mph without braking its not your rotors....I would check something else our or take it to a shop.

I have had that same problem when hitting the pedal and it was always the rotors. They are super cheap at Autozone and too easy to replace yourself. There is no way you should pay a dealer to do it when you can do it yourself in an hour. Both sides!

Mine does the same thing....except my vibrates while just driving at 70...then when i brake it gets really bad...could this be a combo of bad rotors AND un-balance tires???? or should just rotors fix it??

I'd say rotors for sure and if its been awhile since you changed the pads, change them, too. The ceramic pads are really good for cutting down on that damn brake dust! The rotors were like $25 each at Autozone and the pads were reasonable, too. And talk about simple to install!!! I also noticed that when my tire pressure gets low it'll vibrate while driving along. Might check that. Good luck.

Can someone recommend a seller of cheap(er) cross drilled rotors? The "upgrades" site is a little outdated (some links don't work) and I wanted some input on people's experiences with buying these.

I have all these problems. Vibration under braking aswell as when i reach certain speeds. I had the wheels balanced the rotors turned twice. Now my abs is acting up, turning on when it shouldn't. I think it's the abs. It f***s up which makes the pads rub all the time which will wrap the rotors. Because of this the speed sensor is shot. The dealer is having a hard time with this. They just got the sensor and its going in the car on tuesday soi'll keep ya all posted.

Ok guys...im tired of this problem and am gonna take it to the dealer. I have 55,000 on my car and its a 2000. I have the extended warranty which goes until august of this year or 60,000 miles. Should rotors be covered? Or does it depend on the dealership?
