I was just preping around my z3s so I could mold them in place to find what looks to be a bad weld job. I may be wrong, it bumps out about 1 mm maybe 1.5 mm and filler was placed around it... It almost looks like drip marks... input?

what kind of metal is that? the type of metal determines what the weld should/will look like, ie. aluminum usually has a raised bead, stainless steel and mild steel usually have welds that are less protruding, then again let me add a side note, this is from two years of working with tig welds and not much experience with the two other types of welds....i agree it looks like a tack weld to me, which in the long run wont matter unless there are extreme stresses put on it, then it wont be that strong, but looks as long as you get it grinded and sanded down it should be fine, granted you didnt burn through the material and got sufficient weld material on there.

We all know there is no Z3 fenders for the aleros, so I had them custom made using Z3s from a honda civic. They cut out the Z3 part and welded it to my fender. The weld is thick but Im not sure about the plate where the Z3 fits into. I am using fiberglass to mold the z3s into place, so the lines are not there anymore. It should look fine when I am done, I just wanted to know it that was a good job or not because the shop that did all my work cut so many corners, that I found out about after I had my car for a week. Hell Im still finding things now they didn't do right or covered up.
