Clunking

So, I'm an unhappy camper right now...After having my rear wheels seized to my rear hubs, I finally broke them loose. I'm afraid I may have broke something else in the meantime. Here's the scenerio....
I have a clunking noise coming from the right rear wheels on rotation. When I hit the brakes, I get an even louder single clunk. I'm pretty sure that its just the rear drum brake hanging up, so my question is...how the hell do i fix this? the dealership is telling me a week and i can't wait that long. I miss driving my little lady....just to let you know how much driving i've done, it was inspected april 20th, since then i've put on 238 miles.
Anyhow, how much is that rear drum to disc converstion and has anybody done it?

They do make a kit but it's like $1200.

I don't know what's up, you may have broke the cable for the handbrake. Is there any resistance when you apply the brake?

Ive never done a drum to disc conversion but ive heard that its pretty easy you just have to dish out the cash for the kit.

it's easy and fast should take someone with some mechanical skills about 2 days, with a starter craftsman tool set. Less if they raid they father tool box.

If it's clunking, it sounds like one of the springs broke and its causing the shoe to bang against the drum when you apply the brakes. Either that, or a wheel cylinder could be bad. I'd bet on the spring though.

Eitherway, your looking at new shoes, a springkit, and possibly a drum if it damaged it. You can fix it yourself in about an hour and for about $30. If it's just the spring deal I mentioned.

i think it was something simple...i brought it into work and they said that "they couldn't hear the noise" or in other words, it was something simple to fix and they didnt want to charge me

weird i got the same thing you describe and GM says it's a problem with some rear hub or a bearing in it or something... luckily it's under warranty
