so i changed my front left wheel hub on sunday. pretty strait forward. i drove it sunday and it drove great for like a hour. then i noticed a small vibration/pulsation. its barely noticible, but it came out of nowhere.

is there somthing i missed? i mean, these came pre-lubed right? and there's nothing you have to "line up" as far as aligning it i dont think. i just put the three bolts in and cranked them tight

i used a impact for the main center nut, so its on VERY tight. im about to take it apart and recheck those three bolts on the back...but has this happened to anyone?

i dont think thats it...i looked at the old one, and the two parts that it would push together when torqing the nut is 1 piece. the other piece spins around that. i did loosen it, not that would make any difference now if it was the problem.

im going to bring it in for a rotate/balance when i get a chance.

it wouldn't have ruined it...just if you torque it it is "supposed to last longer"

i call BS on that, cuz i've changed out 6hubs since i've had the car, 2 yrs...

might just be cuz you're feelin the tires more without the bearings grinding...

how did you know it needed to be replaced in the first place? I have a whirling sound coming from my front end when the cars going over 80km/h. It sounds almost like my tires are worn but they aren't, or like my CAI, but i've only noticed it within the last week. if i need to change mine, what is involved, and how difficult is it to do?

turtles, it sounds like a hub is starting to go bad...did you throw any codes yet? (usually SVS and Trac Off lights come on)

once you do, get it scanned to see which one is bad...but don't get it fixed at a dealer..they will rape you big time on labor...just buy a non GM part(UAP/NAPA ones are good) and do it yourself...to change it you'll need a good socket set, a good torque wrench(175ft/lbs) and about 40 mins....its just take off bolt back on process, real easy...

my abs sensor was bad, i brought it into school and they said it was the front left. the actual bearing was fine

for some reason it seems to have gotten better, but its still noticible...its a strait forward job, so i think i might have gotten a bad hub, unfortanatly i got it online.

Hey, do you need any special tools to change the hub assembly. Are wrenches and ratchets good enough to get the job done?
