How much would an exhaust be to purchase/have installed? Also, what are some good ones that you could recommend.

SLP and Borla are both bolt ons so they shouldn't be too expensive to install.
A custom job would probably cost somewhere between $300 and 400.
I wouldn't stay with stock, I love the way mine looks, performs, and I love the sound of my Borla, its just a little loud inside sometimes, but with the radio up you can't even tell. Definately a good investment if u r into performance.

Yeah go with the Borla or SLP, since they are bolt on. If you find a good exhaust shop it should only be 75 to 100bucks to install

As usual i'm showing how car clueless I am...
...but does an exhaust make it louder and faster, or just louder?

No it doesn't just make it louder, it will make it sound different and in most cases better in my opinion, but it will also help with the overall apperance and performance of the car.

Depends on what you get. My setup (custom on the V6) is definitely louder, and maybe added a little punch. I went with 2.5 inch cat back (stock is 2.25), with a magnaflow muffler. Cost was $300.00 including install. SLP is louder than Borla, but the Borla sounds very good in its subtleness. Just depends what you want.

^^^What had to be welded on, it bolts right on to where the stock piping and muffler were.

soundclips-exhaust
My little triangle connector that hooks up to the cat was rusted in place so they cut the new one off, and welded it to the connector, so they also just welded the whole thing while they were at it
