hi everybody, i need help finding some things, i need to know where i can find SEMS vinyl paint, i checked the usual places, ACE, home depot, murrays, walmart, none have it, do i have to go to like a specialty paint shop? or like a custom car shop?
and has anyone done a manual/automatic tranmission swap? and know where to get it done? i want to switch my g/f's car from manual to an automatic, is that advisible or should she just trade in the car and get an automatic?
and obviously i need places in or around chicago, if you didnt already know.

depends what car...some cars are pretty easy to swap, some aren't worth the hassle...
as for the vinyl dye, i dunno, i don't live anywhere near you...should be just in any auto store tho like autozone type thing..

well that's the thing, either get a swap, for maybe $2000? at most? or trade in and buy a new car and having to put well over $2k in difference.

just weigh it out...first find a tranny, and if you're not comfortable doin the swap, find someoone that will do it, and for how much....then figure out whats more feasible to do...

i think what well probably end up doing is trading in the car and getting an auto. i just called the dealer and they said they wouldnt do it b/c it's "too complicated and the cars not meant for it" and the tranny from dealer would cost $4000! so i guess a new car she gets
but i still need help on finding SEMS paint, just want to know where to go before i go .

^^lol she does know how to drive it. but shes gonna be working in downtown chicago, first off it's a hassle to drive anywhere there's stop and go and during rush hour you probably have to stop at every block. and second... she is a girl the less you give them to do while driving the better good thing shes not on this board.

hmm ok i found one in elgin on car-parts for $40 but thats a drive for me. is there anyone on here that lives in elgin and works in chicago? if not i guess it's probably better to just wait for a lower price on ebay. or just pay the gas
this is what i'm looking for btw doesnt matter color or year or if there are cracks on the trim as long as the buttons are good

If you come to my place this weekend....there is a paint store right on the way(where we get our supplies) They have SEM products, but chances are they may not have the color dye you want in stock, but could always be ordered. Just a thought..
