I am getting ready to clear my corners (finally) and was thinking about painting some of the bezel black before I put the headlights back together. Does anyone have good headlight pics that they could post to give me some ideas of what will look good on my car?

hahahahahah friggen smart ass...

he's right there...but really, why copy someone else?(even tho just about every version of painted bezels has been done)

you can do lots of things...paint just the most outward part, or just a lil inside the turn signals part, or all of it, or make your own design in there too

here's an idea I though about, but didn't actually go through with:
instead of just taking out the reflector, customize it somehow. If you have some sort of theme going on, mask a shape off. Or just tint the reflector.

Should see if you can find a pic of skiboarders. He had a rather nice tribal design painted onto the lens over the turn signals.

Yeah, that's why I wanted some pics - just to see what is out there and to get some ideas - I don't want to make an exact copy of someone else's.

here is what it looks like with a black painted bezel and no clear corners.

before and after

side view

If you clear your corners and paint the chrome black, it makes the lights look like they are all smooshed together and it doesn't look great IMHO. I like the look of mine because the orange is much darker than before because there is no light refecting off the bezel behind it. Also keep in mind that clearing corners is only legal if you put a side reflector somewhere else.

Thanks for the pics mrmike! I think the black bezels would look nice on my car. Do you have any tips for painting the bezels? I was thinking of using Krylon Fusion.

Krylon is good. I painted mine, just make sure you put a bunch of coats on and then clear coat that biotch up.

you don't have to worry about priming/sanding or even a clear cloat because it will never be exposed to the weather and nothing will ever touch it. That Krylon Fusion stuff works great but I used ordinary duplicolor auto paint for mine. Instead of building up a bunch of light coats of paint, I just blasted it with the spraycan until I had a super glossy shine. Not the best idea for painting but it worked great in this situation. If you don't paint them, be VERY careful with the bezels, I put a fingerprint on the chrome and it actually cracked the coating, so be gentle and maybe always hold it with a cloth or something.

PS. when you do take your lights apart, use the oven method, it works perfectly. Also make sure everyone in your household knows what you are doing, otherwise you will look insane putting your headlights in the oven.

we already discussed this if you read up /\/\ but ill say it again, use krylon fusion paint, it requires no prep, once the bezel is out of the headlight it is ready to paint.
