Alright I was brainstorming about the idea of window tinting and all that. Some of you might think its a dumb idea, in my own opinion i think It might be a great idea, and something car manufactors might think in the furture. Alright here goes, you know how people can have prescription sunglasses, or regular glasses, where the tint changes according to the light? Why not have that for cars? When the sun is at its brightest the window goes to a dark tint, but still legal not to give u tickets up the a-wall. And when its dark out, you have no tint, it just looks regular. I'm sure there are your pro's and cons about this idea. The cost might be a lot of money, and might be expensive to replace. But it would be an idea. What do u guys think of this?
And another idea, to add to this, or instead of going by senstivity to sunlight having a button or switch that will change the tint of the glass.

Don't like the idea. Personally I like dark tinted windows. Espically at night when people can't even see in your car. Sucked when I moved to Hawaii had to scrap my tint because it was to dark. Only 11 more months and no more bullpoop tint laws.

I think it's a good idea, I bet lots of people would go for something like that, but it would be expensive to replace all of your glass. I wonder if a tint film can be created with the same properties so that it would cost about the same as any other type of tint. I would put that on my side windows, but leave my back 3 regular limo tint.
If you had some kinda liquid crystal in your glass then you could turn the tint on and off, that would freak people out, it would be fun to mess with them! And you could set up the back window so you can type out messages, then you can tell tail-gating wanks to cram it with walnuts. Haha, now this idea is getting way outta hand, who let me in here?

ok good idea and its alreayd been done, mercedes and higher end cars have autotinting rearview mirrors. and they are expensive, to have that on a noarmal car on every window would about quadruple the price to replace a window.

Not being able to see in my car is cool and all, but I bunnying hate driving in dark areas and not being able to see where the bunny I'm going... it's been so bad I've had to roll down my windows before going around sharp turns... but maybe I just drive too fast. Sometimes I can just lean way forward and look around the corner through my windshield, which isnt tinted, but other times it's just a pain in the goddamn ass...
Maybe you people who like dark dark tint don't ever leave well-lit areas of town? :P

The only time I have a problem seeing out is when I'm looking out my back window to reverse, but my side windows have no tint so I can obviously see fine that way. I think I need HID reverse lights, then I'll have no problems

Sounds cool, but not sure if it's worth it. The purpose of this tint is that it changes according to light, meaning that in broad day light, the windows will appear dark due to sunlight. But dark tinted windows are already dark regardless of light. And on a very cloudy day, the reduction of light will make the tinting pointless. The only way i see it being useful is at night when you're manuveuring through the dark like Final said, but on the same token, for those of you who live in towns with non-lit stretches of road, a person can pull up directly in your side and be able to look into your car (we've all seen them or do it ourselves) due to the fact of no light hitting the windows, kinda defeating the purpose of spending thousands for something that's only useful in certain environments, whereas dark is always effective, and more cost friendly. Just my two

I wouldn't want it. I don't like the part where the windows would go to clear at nite. Especially for people with high end systems in their cars. Thieves, especially the professional ones (look in ur window at nite while ur sleeping) know when they look in if your car has something worth stealing and an alarm is not going to stop them.

I have the Chrome tinted windows on mine and I love it....It looks like a mirror during the day..so you can't see in...but seeing out is not an issue whatsoever....and at night it's not a super dark tint...but it's a tint regardless.

They make them around here, and my friend used to work there. It's not the glass. There's goop behind the glass that's light sensitive, and it's not very nice stuff. Like you shouldn't touch it. So your windows would have to be hella thick, with layers to hold the goop, and it'd be trouble if they broke in a wreck.

Some people would like the idea, and others won't (that's that nature of building mass vehicles for the public). Personally, I don't think I'd like it, but it could be an option.

I really wouldn't like it...I like that no one can see in my car because of the fact of breaking into my car for something. At night, some headlights blind you if you don't have tint on your car...you get used to dark tint on your windows if you drive your car on a DAILY basis. 5-0 just don't like it because they want to see you when approaching a car at night just for protection...or they're just being poop heads and want to write you a ticket.

I don't know. Kinda drawn on the idea. It would be cool because of the ass clown cops who target a car with tints. But bad because they people can see inside your car at night.

i can definatly see everyone has different feelings about this. Which is great. Now personally i'd think jump on the idea if u can have tint but control the tint with just a push of a button. Picture this> your crusing down the highway, and your radar dectector goes off, or your coming to a red light and see a cop waiting right there. YOur tints are extremely dark. Well hey if u got a button to push, u can instantly lighten the tint. And save yourself a ticket. NOw that would be sweet!

I think it's a cool idea, but, as plenty of people already said, it's not feasible or cost effective. I erally like the idea of push-button tint though...sort of like they had in the private room in Sum of All Fears..:P
