Florio actually was pretty good. His attempts at policy were accurate from an economists' point of view but were saddled by a case of poor timing in relationship to how the public was perceiving the issues of the day and the remedies. A true politician looking for votes and protect his career would have handled things much differently but Florio stuck by his guns and was shot down by opposing politicians and the general public's simpleton views on what they want to see happen (vs. what really needs to happen to accomplish the right end goals).
McGreesy was one of our worst Govs. Whitman was a publicity whore. And Shrek... er, I mean Acting Gov. Codey, is even worse than McGreesy. He's only been in office a little over a year and his list of wrong-doings and failures tops the last 3 Governors combined. Remeber the guy who USED TO head FEMA until a little hurricane revealed him to be a fraud? Multiply that by several dozen people and you get an idea of Codey's "political appointments" to his brother and other cronies.
The whole political system in NJ is THE most corrupt in the country as it spreads throughout the 21 counties and into the deepest part of state legislature. Neither Corrizine or Forrester is any good and neither will do anything realistic about the corruption since both are part of "the system" that is perpetuating it. Corrizine recently made some negative remarks about some politician in south Jersey, only to have one of the Bosses down there make Corrizine publicly recant his statement and praise the guy. Forrester isn't much better but I think he's the lesser of 2 evils.
Listen to NJ 101.5-FM in the mornings (Jim Gearhardt) and afternoons (The Jersey Guys) and you'll get clued into all of the nitty-gritty with the incumbents and wanna-bes.
