Alarm/starter Malfunctioning

My car seems to be periodically turning itself on, in addition when it is really cold out -20 C my alarm often seems to set itself off for no reason. Any tips? The combo is about 5 years old now...self starter just started happening while the alarm issue has been ongoing for several years.

do you have a hood pin switch for the alarm?....if you do it could be freezing up and it's probably corroded...this would set your alarm off......as far as the remote starter it sounds like you need an upgrade....a 5 year old remote start is ANCIENT!.....I give it props that it'w worked that long. I'd replace it.

THey're a combo unit...and yeh I do have a hood pin, I'll check that out.
