well i have a memphis 6.5 crackling, i've got 960 watts going into 4 memphis 6.5s and 4 tweeters, so i want to change them all i need suggestions on 6.5s good sound quality great power handling, and reasonable price, maybe components. i have aprox 240 watts at peak hitting each memphis. and its only the front right i can hear doing it. i have all the bass filtered out of the 6.5s any way i can check for sure?

watts should never be used as peak-its a bs wattage. what is the RMS per channel on that amp, and what are the speakers rated for in RMS. You may have overpowered, and blown your front right speaker. If you have $230 for a pair of speakers check out Rainbow Audio SLC 265. Theres a Rainbow dealer on www.caraudioforums.com that will sell you them. PM me for his username

im a fan of infinity so id say go with them......just check for the depth of them since it may be deeper i dont know.......and like that last post said......always go by the rms wattage never the peak, the peak is kinda like a thrown out number.....but those speakers will work just fine, i have the 5 1/4's in my front door.......

I kind of doubt that you overpowered your speakers. The lower the sound waves, the more wattage that is needed to reproduce it. With your bass being blocked, your amp is probably only reproducing 50 watts RMS. Even with your gains set to maximum, and your volume at peak, it will seldomly use much wattage. Most likely, the tweeter has blown from poor quality controls. If not, it could be a poor termination at the amp or rca. Simply swap the rca inputs and see if it travels to the other speaker. If so, your terminations are the cause.
The infinity comps are pretty nice. Just go with a 51/4. Very few 6.5 comps will fit in the doors. Comps tend to measure the woofer size while lower end speakers measure the entire woofer and frame. My eclipse and JL comps were nearly 7 3/4 inches at the basket.
