I Haven't used these at night yeat, so i may need to modify a high beam bulb to make them bright enough. not enough cash for HID yet. heres a basic how to.

Items needed:
1 can of spray paint
Epoxy
Silicone
Flathead screw driver
Factory Fog lights or other projector

1. Remove center of fog lights from outer shell. Clips on both sides, you can use a flathead to gently pry them undone.
2. Remove bulb from fog lights and cut right before the area where the bulb slides into light. I used a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel. Try to make cut as straight as possible, if it isn’t perfect its alright.
3. Remove headlights from car and disassemble the same way you would if you were to do clear corners mod.
4. After headlight disassembly look at the area where the low beams are and you will notice that there is a flat area where the bulb sits, then angles on both sides. You need to trim the fog lights or projectors to be able to sit on there as flush as possible. You also need to take out the piece that wraps around the low beam bulb; it just pops out if you squeeze the sides.
5. Next you can test fit the projectors, make sure they sit flush and use epoxy to fasten them in place.
6. Let dry for 30-40 minutes, after the epoxy fully dries, you can mask off the projector lens and the high beam area and pain the low beam area black. You don’t need too, but I think it just gives it a cleaner look.
7. Wait for paint to dry and reassemble, make sure you seal the headlights properly with the silicone or they will fog up when it rains.

well i ran into a problem, after having them at night, they are nowhere near bright enough to drive with. i have silverstars in them, but i am gonna try to redo the mirror finish inside of them. they seemed kinda dark after i cut them. i'll give it a shot but if it doesn't work i guess i need another set of headlights.

LOL, maybe you shouldn't have painted the inside there...maybe you need HIDs

i think i need HID's, but the cheapest set i've found is $215. its a little more than i wanna pay right now. i think i'll try to fix it and put low beams in the high beam area to at least be able to drive for work.

doubleN0alero
08-05-2006, 12:20 AM
well, it just so happens i know somebody with an extra set of headlights laying around...LOL :ninja: I was actually going to tear those shits apart and do the same thing you are now...

So if i am figuring this right, you used the projectors from the factory fog lights for the low-beams? no wonder you can't see anything at night. If you get a good set of halogen projectors you won't have that problem. I have the Hella 90mm projectors on my chevy and they are WORLDS above the stock headlights.

olds03alero
08-05-2006, 03:22 AM
yes i did, i got the idea from a few guys over at grandamgt.com they did basiclly the same thing i did. They did it without any problems, i think i just screwed up somewhere. i dunno i think i can fix it but i gotta wait til morning,

One head light has more black then the other almost looks like they are not even but I have the same question, are they aimed right?

well i took them out and put it back to stock today. the heat from the bulbs started melting the projector housing. i'm gonna wait a couple weeks and go with hella 90mm projectors and try it again. the reason they did not look aimed right was because they actually melted in different directions.

You need to use the proper projectors in order to make this work. Even if you can fit the fog light projector in there, you are going to get fog light performance out of your headlights. You have to spend some decent cash to get this to work properly.

Start by getting a set of correct projectors, such as from an Audi, or BMW etc. HIDs are not necessary but will make this so much better.

This is the set I retrofitted in. They are Audi Projectors and 4300k HIDs
http://anderbrainnovations.freeservers.com/Projectors/proj.htm

Cost Breakdown: (When I would make them for folks.)
Audi Projectors: ~ $100 (thats on the cheap side)
Decent HID Kit: ~ $400
Hardware, epoxies, etc: ~ $25
Labor: ~ $175
Time - Dremeling, epoxying, cutting projectors, alignment: ~ 8-10hrs minimum.

So it would be an easy $300 w/o HIDs, and upwards of $700 with them.

Im not saying you didn't do a good job partaking in this issue, but based on others experiences, and difficulties doing this project, there is a reason they kept them stock. I did the same thing initially, except I made everything from scratch, made my own projector housing and everything. Melted the shit out of it. Best thing to do is learn from others' mistakes. :) Like mine! Most of the time someone has "been there, done that" and for the most part survived to tell about it.

nice but you cant paint the entire bezel and just stick a projector in there, you need to mount the projector and cover the surrounding part of the lens so the light is directed through the lens.

they look alright, good work but i'm not feeling it. i don't think i would do it to my headlights since i have super white bulbs and the blue reflects from my bulb. it looks cool.

Those rally projectors are nice, but 60 bucks a piece...man that is expensive...120 for one head light. I don't see it being easy to mount those in our housings either.

I would be very interested if someone can pull this off.
