2002 Olds Alero (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50090#) with the 2.2 Ecotec Engine (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50090#) and a 5-speed. 118,000 km.
Came to a gas station from my 100 km commute. During the commute, the Security light came on and stayed on for the rest of the trip. Once I filled up (and I fill up here every other day), I go to start the car (http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50090#), the car starts, and then stops immediately but before it stops, it sputters to a stop.
It just sat there for 10 minutes, started up fine. Turned off, started again, had trouble keeping idle and then died. IAT?? But then again, pressing on the gas didn't do anything either.

Is assraped a word?
It wasn't bad compared to the rates here in Canada. With taxes (14%) it was $737 CDN with towing as well.

Ouch, pricey. Mine does the same thing at least once a week. Wait 10 mins start with the remote works fine!

That's expensive... I wouldn't put that much money in to fixing any car... well, at least not in one go

This kinda is my daily driver and I commute to work 100 km each way (200 total) everyday.
I really had no other choice.

When it stops starting, check the fuel pump relay ;).

Thanks. We try to start it with the remote all the time. When I get a new key cut, it doesn't do it for a little while.

I had something similar after my first rebuild and i couldnt figure out what the hell it was. I actually discovered the problem with mine by mistake. Theres a fuse that is bolted on by the trans and as i would hit bumps on the road it would slowly move down and as soon as the metal on the bottom of the fuse grounded with the trans it would sputter flash security and die. Then after trying to start again it would run for a tiny bit hit some bump and down she goes. I tightened it like hell and wrapped it so it wouldnt ground out regardless if it did come loose and never had the problem again.

Do they all have this or just the 4 cylinder model transmissions?

Happened to me once after changine the brakes.. Started the engine just to give the new brakes a few test stops then after i parked it and turned it off. 10 minutes later i realized i had to get something from the store and the car turned on for 5 seconds and just died. Kept cranking and cranking but it wouldnt stay on. The security light was on on my car as well so all i did was disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and reconnected it and it started up just fine.
