Baer and SSBC (Stainless Steel Brakes) are the only companies (that I know of) that offer bolt-on high-performance brakes for the Alero. Anything else (i.e. Wilwood, Brembo, Alcon, AP Racing) will be a custom application.

you can do the 12" upgrade with GM parts like i did, or any system that uses the orignal caliper mounting for a '98-'02 camaro would work too.

There's a good thread on the GrandAmGT forum here (http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62144&highlight=brakes)

depends on how much money u got to spend on it. Baer and SSBC would be the high end models and if u just wanna do rotors and pads I went with brembo crossed/drilled rotors and hawk ceramic pads.

nah ... gonna need bigger brakes period ... the more I look at the z06 swap the more i dont really see the differance between them and the SSBC/BAER setup except for like 60 bucks more you get 13" Disks with the SSBC Kit instead of 12" in the swap

ugh ... freakin killing my brain

I would go with the Vette calipers and Impala rotors. Cliff what rotors did you use? I was looking at power slot for the rotors and they have the rotors for the SS. Would they work?

I just got today from Summit, the Summit brand slotted and cross-drilled rotors and pads.

I'm putting them on tomorrow :coolio:

Ok, here's one other advantage. All the parts you need for the brake upgrade using the GM parts are readily available if you need replacements. If you want to go to a 13" rotor instead of the 12", you can get these adapter brackets (http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1556) for $295.

The Baer setup is actually OLDER technology. They just adapt C4 brakes to fit your car. I believe the SSBC kit uses C4 rotors and their proprietary C5-style calipers.

I have the rotors that are spec'd for a '98-'02 F-Body or a '00-'05 Impala or Monte Carlo.

There's a 4-pot SSBC kit on ebay right now listed for a venture that should also work (have to drill the mounting holes in the knuckle to 14mm probably)
