It should work ok... I guess it just converts basic screen to touch... would be interesting to try... its basicly would just be a replacment for the mouse... i guess

hmm, the price sounds about right...here's another kit which is for xenarc monitors...in theory it should work for any 7" monitors (99% sure on it), but just to make sure, i would call them up and ask...
http://www.xenarcdirect.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=XE7TSK

the one you found will also work, but only on that size monitor (7")...just out of curiosity, what kind of monitor do you have?

by the way, make sure that if you get a "touchscreen kit" you have the drivers, usb controller, and touchpanel...without any one of those, you'll have some trouble ;)

also, heres the installation walkthrough for the kit:

yeah installing the touchscreen shouldnt be a problem if you know what you're doing and are careful--make sure you avoid contact with the screen's circuit board because your body has static electricity stored in it and that static could zap the sensitive electrical components on the board...where to mount the usb controller on the otherhand--three choices:
1) try to fit it inside the screen's casing (might not fit)
2) put it on the outside of the screen's casing (ghetto)
3) pull the wires through the hinge (or even outside the hinge) into the upper overhead console...(this is the one I would go with)

goodluck

The onlything I would have to input on this is when you install the screen make sure there is not to much pressure on teh panel. I had to remount mine becasue the mouse was stuck in the left corner.

I want a high powered system but I can't do that yet since it takes too much power and i'm planning on using mastero's MK 3.5 (125 watts max power)....and idea on your power supply yet?

Not yet I am looking in to it......I am also looking into a laptop with a broken lcd....I would like to just take the lcd off and use just the base........that would save a lot of room and time an the build.......they make a video converter converter 1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=180&item=4121570837&rd=1) converter 2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3759&item=4121899290&rd=1) I am not sure how the 2nd one works.......

the second one is all you need....it converts the VGA signal to S-video or Composite...the first one looks like its some sort of signal switching box where you can choose which connector to output the signal to...
