Hey, i have a little 580 watt dual amp in my car and it has been working since around thanksgiving. It is hooked up to two 12 in. subs. Yesterday i switched the 6x9s back too stock and after that i noticed the amp was not turning on. Im pretty sure it is getting power because if i disconnect the ground wire while i have the car on the red protect lights up but the green one wont. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i checked the wires. i also tried hooking up this 1000 watt crunch amp that use to have the protect light on and now that one came up with the green light but no sound came out of the subs. Im thinking it might be the rca wires?

well check you remote make sure that your still getting a signal to turn the amp on (you can check this but using a small jumper wire and jump it from the constant to the remote). if its not the remote, then check the RCA's (you can check this buy running a really long rca wire out side your car and hook it up to your deck and if you get sound then your wires are bad). if you still get nothing check the rca's on the deck (hook another amp up or use the really long rca's and hook them up to a amp in somone else's car) hell maybe even check the subs to make sure you didnt fry them. but if everything checks out then you may just have fried your amp (one way to check if your amp is friend is to smell it and if it smells like smoke and dosent work, then its fried). but yea your amp is not the best on the market if you cant get it to work id just thow it away.

do you think i blew the fuse on the power wire because when i disconnect the ground wire, the red light comes on, but its not very bright.
Also, the amp has a 12 volt out so you can hook up these lights that are on the subs and those lights still work.

Hopefully your not sending voltage back through your speakers. Could get pretty nasty.

Test it out in someone elses vehicle and see if it's the amp or the wiring. A bad ground can do some weird things to an amp and it sounds like you may have a short somewhere. Better yet, grab a volt meter and measure the power from the positive line to where the ground cable is connected.
