Oh, I meant someone could drop by here on the way to cali and use/borrow my bumpers if needed to get the kit made, if they're coming from the east. I'm not ready with the car itself right now.

Sorry Marc, I don't trust your vehicle one bit, no matter how reliable you say it is.
I have had to book my flights for my sales meeting, the owner was getting pissed that I was the last to turn in my itinerary for travel. If everyone would have responded to posts and PM's, I still might be driving to California.
I'm still waiting for Zol's response to my post and PM.

Come on Oldsnut we are all cars guys here just take a bag of tools with you and bill Marc for any replacement parts you need to use to get you there. I'd take any modern car across the county with no fear, especially an Olds. I have bought cars in Washington State with major problems and drove them home.
Who here couldnt do an intake seal on Rt 5 in Cali anyway ?
Silentalero
01-16-2008, 04:58 PM
eh its your choice. Im trying to help out whatever way i can, so saying we dont have a donor car is a lie because im willing to let somebody drive it there. If i had the time, id drive it. I trust it since when i went to lansing i had every fluid and filter flushed and changed. Plus its a 2.4L so no LIM problem. The only reason the tires popped were becuase they rubbed from the hydros and both were replaced and the hydros are off. Along with the loose wire but its your choice. Doesnt matter to me.

Silentalero
01-16-2008, 05:04 PM
I would fund the project completely but the problem i see is i know this sites track history with actually putting a dollar forward. But then again the only way id do it is if we worked something out so i owned the rights to the mold.
Oldsnut
01-16-2008, 05:12 PM
You can own the rights for $9200 as I stated a long time ago. There is no guarantee that bodykits would make a slighltly different version and undercut you in price and then start selling them. Don't you think I have already thought of that also. It just doesn't make financial sense.
And where did I say we didn't have a donor car, I don't feel that paulb should get his car there and his free kit be voided by his shipping fee.

01-16-2008, 05:13 PM

Correct you are! They do not have a copyright on the OSV. It is really not our problem, we are not the ones making the kit.
And Ford realized their mistake and they are now allowing it to be printed.

If your so worried use your car as the donor car.
no need to get pissy with me. up until my post the 100% of a donor car was up in the air. no clarfication from you.
I would love to have my car as the donor car but it is just not realistic or healthy to drive my car to CA.
I understand not wanting to spend the money to ship it to bodykits without all the money there and everything ready. But if you look at the other side of the coin who's going to send the money without a 100% donor car. without money or donor car the buy falls thru.
Which this is something you need to find out Andy, if we all send our money now and say we don't get a donor car there what kind of a guarantee do we have that our money will be sent back?

Ok honestly man, do NOT go into debt and put yourself in a financial bind just to get a bodykit. Yes this is a group buy but if things change and you have to back out then so be it. You should never feel "forced" to get the cash. If worse comes to worse and we are short people im sure scot, andy or me can fork the extra kit cash over and sell it afterwards. Obviously you will have first dibs if you can come up with it later.

If we lose another car the price goes up to $675 + donation for the donor car per bodykits etc.
$150 in shipping would probably be the extreme East coast and would be cheaper if it is shipped to a business address according to them. Shipping costs cannot be calculated until the kit is done and they see how much it weighs and the dimensions.
As soon as people get back to me, I can post all the details.

If you get it now for the prebuy price you can always store it untill you get the money to paint it and rims can always come after as well.

As Nick said, do not think about the paint or wheels now. It can be painted at any time in the future and then buy wheels that go with the "look" you want for your car. Any kit or rear bumper you buy will have to be painted anyways. With the color of your car now, it would look sharp. You are going to keep the same color, right. Let me know what you decide. When this does happen it will go quickly.

Update time.
The time frame for this to get done and when paulyb could have the car in LA is just to tight to use his car for the donor car. He is stationed in Japan in the military and is scheduled to get out in March and his car along with him will go back to the East coast or something like that. First off I would like to thank paulyb for offering his car in the first place, second is of all the people that have offered their cars are military people, it says something about GI's in general I think and I say thanks to all.
Now to the newest potential donor car, it is sburke who is another military guy. He is just waiting on commanders approval to go to L.A. Like joserivas, he needs a months notice but it's looking good.
Thanks dude!!!!!!
This and other reasons is why I always support our military guys. I had a chance to talk with some guys that had just got out of boot camp while on a business trip last week. We were at a restaurant at Lambert Field in St. Louis their views on our country and where they want it to be are amazing! The bad part was I could only buy drinks for 2 of them because they were all to young.
We are working out the details in PM's right now and should have all info ready after I get back from California on on Feb 7th. While I'm there I will not have my computer available, it will be in the hands of my companies IT guys. If I can post information sooner I will.
FYI, I called a bunch of junkyards in L.A. are and non had any Aleros except for a location that was given to me by another junkyard. He had an Alero that was T-boned and wanted $1600 for it and wouldn't even think about renting to us.

After talking with bodykits over the last couple of weeks the payments will most likely go through me due to their policy changes on group buys etc. As soon as I know al, I will let you know on here and in PM's.
I did talk to sburke tonight, we need to work out some small stuff. Once that happens it should be good to go.
WTF happened on that post?

There was an issue with the time it took to get the buy set up, to were the time they needed it would go way over when I needed the car, due to coming back states side. Thats why I couldnt have mine there, basicly it took to long.
But yes I think were just waiting to find out about sburke like oldsman said.

Just a little update on the buy now that I am back from California.
I have not heard from Sburke in almost 2 weeks, I don't know anything about his situation. Last I heard, he was trying to get a hold of bodykits.
I also have been in contact with Jose now that he is back from his emergency tour of duty. He has told me that he must go back out on his normal tour in 3 weeks. He wants to be the donor car but cannot at this time, which I totally understand. If this hasn't gone thru by the time he gets back from tour we will rethink everything.
That is as much as i know at this point guys.
BJ, thanks for the heads up with the info, let me know if you hear
anything more on it.
I am not giving up on this group buy yet.

I exspalined this before, Im on a time line for when my car needed to be on the east coast, and the shipping of my car to RI had a very minimal neg time line. Due to the time everyone needed to get in the group buy and it set, my car would have had to been shipped from body kits.org to the east coast with no bumpers, no sides, and any results from the kit being fabbed.

OK, I've dropped everything I am doing right now and made a call to bodykits.
What I was told confirms why I am not spending a lot of time on this right now as I stated in a previous post
1)I gave the phone number to sburke for bodykits several weeks ago. He told me that he just tried to call but couldn't reach them, I called and got thru right away as usual whenever I call.
2)In post #365 he said he has sent an email to bodykits to ask them several questions about the process and other issues and was waiting for a reply. Bodykits has received emails only from myself, Oldsman, paulb and joserivas in regards to the group buy. Absolutely none from sburke. I want these guys to hear the answers first hand from bodykits.
3)I think back on comments he made to me saying if I have to trailer my car it will be there. Why would you need to trailer your car on a 6 hour drive unless it's broke?
I personally am putting my money on joserivas to be the donor car when he comes back in May. That's just me though guys, I'm the one getting all the PM's and emails in regards to the group buy. I have to sift thru all the BS and that is what I am doing right now, sifting and eliminating. There are a few on here that understand the facts as stated.
In regards to the 1.5 inches, I've answered that question before. It is No problem.
That is all.

There has to be if's in there. As for the 12's, I don't feel that you would attempt it if you could not accomplish the task. By the way I saw a picture of you on the net, how do you fit in an Alero? You are not a small guy and for those that have not seen the picture, it is all muscle.

I'm not even going to fight this one very long.
First - Bodykits is wrong, I have emailed them, I had to register on their website just to do it.
Second - I have said since day one I do not care what they do to my car, I just want the project underway as quickly as possible. You told me to wait and contact them. I have informed you that I am having trouble with that. It seems the logical thing to do would be to do what I asked and give me a date. I do not need to speak with them to make this happen other than the day I drop off my car.
So sift through these facts if we are going to be smartasses about this.
1. I have a alero and am closer than anyone else
2. I can have it there within a month of notification from YOU with the possibility of getting it there the first weekend after I am contacted
3. I can not get in touch with bodykits.
4. You can
Facts + Common Sense = solution
Call them - set up a tentative date - call me make sure I can get the car there - call them back confirm - 6 to 8 weeks later everyone is happy and you aren't wasting your time on countless messages and PMs.

Just because you registered at their online store, doesn't mean you sent an email to them. Post a screenshot of your emails sent log showing one asking your questions. You do not need to register at their site to send an email to them. I have sent them emails and never registered. The othe odd thing is that I gave you Aldo's email address previously many weeks ago.
Why can you not contact bodykits, I have no problem getting thru, nor has anyone else.
You are the one who said you would contact them and ask questions, I am not your babysitter.
Is your car driveable at this point? Why were you talking about trailering a stock Alero?

So it seems the simple solution would be this. Oldnut, just call them and set up a date 5 or 6 weeks out. Sburke said he'd take it, he just can't get ahold of them for whatever reason.
So say April 12th or something the car will be there and it'll be on him to get it out there on April 12th...just make sure that date is good with bodykits first.

Nobody was questioning your integrity, they were simply offering you a chance to back your word up with solid proof. We're on the internet. These people don't know anything about the real you. This is an important event to them. Of course there's going to be some skepticism

I am in BNCOC for the next two months starting this wednesday so there is no way I can get it down there until mid-may. I told Aldo May 17th and I already have a request in to take leave at that time. I apologize to everyone that this has taken so long, and will take even longer now, that's just how my schedule has worked out. If anyone can beat me down there by all means go ahead. You can't really get the rims anywhere.... I know someone on here was selling the set from the red osv I believe, but I'm not sure what the outcome was with those. You can take your car in and do a custom exhaust at any shop that does custom exhaust work. Shouldn't be to hard to do.

03-10-2008, 09:27 PM
Of note to anyone who may not be sure if they want it now. Aldo said after the initial group buy the price basically doubles. So either find a way to do it now, or you'd really be shooting yourself in the foot. I don't know every single detail about that, but I'm sure oldsnut could explain better. You only get the good price when a lot are made at the same time, it's cheaper for the company, so they can pass the savings on to you.

just a idea but why dont u start a new thread for people to say they sent a downpayment? easier to keep track and let a mod know any post that isnt saying sent deposit should be issued a infraction? also youll know whose dead serious about it and be sure to add paypal fees

Ok...I'm under budget on repairs at this point, and the parts for the brake upgrade aren't going anywhere. Since this could be a one shot deal, it's a no-brainer to grab this kit while I can. Count me in as a 100% definite yes on the kit and spoiler both.

yes 2dr and 4dr side skirts are interchangable even between years so if the side skirts are made on a 2dr they will fit a 4dr.

Sburke says he will have his car there on May 17th as he posted earlier. If he doesn't get it there then joserivas is gonna be donor car when his Submarine hits shore.

Sweet thread. I' am up in N. Cali so donor for me is out if it's in S. Cali. As for the buy itself I' am afraid atm I' am fairly poor so I will be concentrating on making my payments and such for a while LOL. I do start a new job this month which will pay $1,000 more a month so I look forward to some mild modding in the future.
As a side note my dad was a bubble head so /salute Jose.

Quick question, without having to go through 22 pages, is this kit going to replace the front and rear bumper?
