yeah, self explanatory

I searched, different people said different things

I tried the haynes manual way and it can't be right.

so yeah, how do I do it?

its super easy..all you do is gently pry up on the speaker grills, they should pop and i believe you pull towards you and up, then (its easier if the seats are folded down)if you look under the deck you should see a large clip hanging from the top by where your speakers are...those are the brackets, just squeeze the clip and push up and the speaker is free, and they are removed from the top...and if you're replacing with other 6x9's i think you can still use the factory bracket so you don't have any vibration issues...I'm still yet to do this myself...and to get the old speakers off the bracket, carefully pry on the plastic tabs, if you get two free, then the speaker should be wiggled or whatever free....I hope this helps..

Note: and I stress carefully and gently prying

just the plastic grille part that goes right above the speakers? not the whole carpeted piece including the plastic grille?

just as easy (and less likely to break something) if you take the rear deck out. and if your planning subs, put something under the deck so it doesn't vibrate as much.

I thought in my 2000 they were riveted down or something because when I wanted to give a better look at them one day I had to remove the whole rear deck which was very eay too.

you're probably going to have to take out the whole rear deck
theres some old threads on doing it

but for a quick fix, why not put something inbetween there for now so it doesn't have anything to vibrate against?

what do you mean put something between there????

I thought i could just go buy some dynamat and put it under the rear deck.....but then it would still make the rattling because the cover is right over the speaker, and i cant cover the speaker:lol: any suggestions?????

nevermind, your speaker covers must not be like mine

if they were, they would be pretty easy to unclip and take out

as a delayed add to this, I was finally able to mount my 6x9 pioneers in the factory speaker brackets, but i had to cut off one of the tabs and one speaker retainer...still holds the speaker firm, and it clips right where its supposed to on the deck, and since i've done this NO vibration in back.......the doors are another issue all togthe

I'm not really sure what you're talking about, but I had no child seat belt issues.

my speaker grills have child seat attachment things. and the rear speakers come out easily... just slightly pry up the the rear deck... and wiggle out. they aren't really an issue
