I have a 2000 Alero 3.4L with a sloppy shifting trans, especially the 1-2 shift. Will the B&M Shiftplus help that? The B&M model number is 70380 right?

Oh yes, it'll help stiffen those shifts right up. You feel an immediate difference, seriously. It's one of the better mods I've ever done to my car.

I'm pretty sure it comes with a switch so you can toggle between

Lucas. made the tranny in my wagon last two month until it went BOOM! then it didn't work. Get your tranny flushed and then get Lucas put in it. it will shift better... ...i hope

Takes a long time for 1-2 shift sometimes, especially at high RPMs.

thread on how to install at trans

Somebody here said something about having to turn the Shiftplus off and on all the time but I can't find the post. Can't you just install it and leave it on, say in position 1?

Yes, you can leave it on position 1 all the time, but be advised it will accelerate the wear on your transmission oil pump.
The B&M ShiftPlus (and the AutoTrans Interceptor) both work on the same principle - they increase the current to the shift solenoids. If you wanted to modify the same thing in the PCM, it is the Force Motor Table.....which DHP doesn't make available to us (IDK if HPTuners does), because it can be so hard on the tranny. Use sparingly.

I've had my Shiftplus on my car for over 3 years, 2 of them turbo'd, and I've left it on setting 2 the entire 3+ years without any problems. Still shifts very fast and there's been zero transmission problems.

Yeah, I've had it on a GMC Jimmy (one of it's intended applications) for like 7 years or so with no adverse effects as well.

i thought that all 3.1s and 3.4s where vacume operated.

Is it turned on all the time?

You know, I had my trans rebuilt at an Olds dealer at 60k miles because of the sloppy 1-2 shift (it gradually got sloppy over a long period of time). After the rebuild, it repeated the same thing, getting worse with time and now, at 108k, the 1-2 shift feels sloppy again. I think it's just normal wear in the trans and the PCM programming doesn't adjust for it with higher pressure.

Yep. The day I installed it I tried it out on both settings. I liked setting 2 so I switched it to 2 and haven't touched it since.

Any warning lights or SES lights?

nope...they're a 4T45E

the "E" is for electronically controled

Only the old GAs and Achievas with the 4T60-E were vacuum.

Do you have the B&M Shiftplus on yours?

nope because i'm afraid that it'll eff up my trans worse than it already is.

here's a gm goodwrench webpage explaining transmission identification:

Does anyone know if I can put a newer trans in my 2000 Alero 3.4L? How new can I go? I heard some of the newer ones have some mods to make them last longer.

this is normal with the higher pressure from the pump.

you should hear and feel it with the poly mount and coilovers............SLAM
