woot. only thing I see wrong with it is (wtf happened to the brake lights? lol) the gap between the body and rear bumper cover..
other than that.. bad ass.

kieth iam goin to call u tommorrow, the caddy lights are my brake turn and running lights, nothing wrong with the bumper cover at all, or rear body panel, it could be the angle i took i made the deck lid to be different and not flush with the 1/4 or bumper
have to see the car in person to appreciate it

I admire the time you took to get all of this done, looks good overall. I'm not too fond of the tail light decision, however it's totally unique compared to anything else out there. I would have chosen something a bit more modern. What made you go with that setup? Like the old school caddy look?
bdyman
10-14-2008, 10:06 PM
i love the ole skool look, and why go with something modern??, then it wouldnt be different, like is is 300 lights why???, everyone does them, a custom car is about being different, not being the same
the frenching is different its not done too often on a car, then the classic french

i can understand the clean look, but with how much work is done on the back end, it just seems like the front bumper needs a little something... just to fancy it up a tad.
the hood will help, but it will also further accent the fact that the space under it is nearly stock, still.
just my opinion though.

i see what your sayin, are you sayin perofrmance wise?? it has basic mod`s, bigger t/b, rk sport intake, and full exhaust, it looks cool it does get up and go, but i have been fast, so i love the car love the way it looks, and when its striped it will be the cherry on the cake

I knew you were going with the caddy lights, but I don't like how the holes look in the pics.
Kinda hoped you had lights going to fill the whole hole.
mind you, the car is complete sex, just don't think the holes that is around the tails work.

hey bdyman....i was looking at the qtr panel and i was wondering if i had to replace mine, would i have to cut it and fit another qtr panel in? does it tell you that i-car wants us to do a open butt with backing joint?? nope
does it tell you that panle bond and pillar foam needs heat to come off?? nope, does it tell you that the seam sealer has to be removed to find all the spot welds?? nope
does it show you how to weld?? can it teach that?? nope
does it tell you that when the 1/4 is back on all part must go back on to ensure proper body lines??? nope
does it show yhou how to put the car on a frame rack clamp it down and pull the damage first?? nope
does it tell you that inside the window frame you never ever apply bondo becasue window urathene does not bond to bondo??? nope

some of that is common sense..... that book helps some, but obviously its not going to teach you everything. Pulling seam sealer back to get to welds, not hard....and if you drill out all the spot welds and its still holding then i would hope your smart enough to know that there are some under the seam sealer. This book isnt about frame racks, it doesnt show you how to anchor it down...if people wanna learn how to pull frames, etc. they can go buy that book. This book is all about basic things, where to locate some stuff......thats what i was looking for;) I already know how to get it on the rack, pull seam sealer, weld, etc:rolleyes2:

bdyman
10-19-2008, 08:26 AM
if my striper did any more it would have looked out of place, the stripes in the pocket your not going to see it would have been a waste
the flames are flames everyone does flames in their own way he does them like that, i do them differently as well
striping is to bring the car to life, to much and it`s overkill and could ruin a car`s look
the center caps are off becasue i still need to have the 2 tires mounted, i need alignment, and exhaust
i do not know how to stripe thats why i use my buddy, rick the striper
does any one on here know what "bmf" stands for

Daaaam! That front looks amazing now!
IMO it could use something simple on the rear of the wing to accentuate the shape, and go with the sharp seam where it meets the trunk.. but that's just a suggestion.
Look sweet dude.

billytheman1188
10-23-2008, 09:24 PM
cause it could looke 1000x better with paint on it..... i never got why some people like to leave the car in primer. My buddy at school did the same thing with his s10. kind of dumb to leave it in primer if you ask me....you did all this work to that car, and you leave it with a boring primer look. but whatever, if thats what you like GO FOR IT
bdyman
10-23-2008, 11:20 PM
and it would, if i did paint it i would do hot rod flatz paint, i love the old skool hot rod look, and do you think buying paint is cheap??? a gallon of clear at my cost is 160 bucks, not to mention, a gallon of ncs sealer is 120, plus hardner for clear and sealer, plus a gallon of dbc base coat, another 160, plus 2 gallons of dt reducer, a gallon of dx 330, tack rag, tape, paper,
i would do it at work and i would have to pay my boss for the material, so it would be close to a 1,000 and right now there is no way on earth i can do that, we are slow, not making the money iam used to, i work commission no work=no money
so if i did i would do the hot rod flatz, it`s way cheaper then going base coat clear coat, and iam not your buddy rolling around in some cheap ass primer either, the primer i used is corrossion resistant, and even though it does not have uv protection, it would take yr`s for this primer to show any type of ill effects, it does not shrink, so if i did paint it it would be like i primed it the very next day
the heads this car is turning is the few times i had it out so far is enough for me to leave it the way it is

YALEROYNOT
10-25-2008, 12:26 PM
I saw a grand am near where I work with side exhaust in front of the rear wheels. I wanted to get some pic of how it was done but I cant seem to track it down. that would be cool to do some old school side pipes with a modern flare. that would bring the old school look together.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u206/sincycles/pipes.jpg
might be able to use mufflers like these :
http://www.mustangdepot.com/OnLineCatalog/images/Exhaust/long-tube-02b_small.jpg
Cliff8928
10-25-2008, 12:42 PM
I doubt even one of those mufflers would fit under the car, let alone the 90° outlet GTO one. You'd have to use a muffler in the center tunnel and just angle it out to get a side outlet. I have a similar setup on my beretta with a boom tube for a tip.
I really think all bdyman's car needs is a nice (oval?) bare stainless tip. It doesn't need to attract attention, just be there.
P.S. - Bdyman, I'll pick up my car early next week (mon or tues). Had trailer probs or would've done it yesterday. I also want to ask your opinion on getting some (plastic) custom work on the denali done if i can bring it to show you when i pick the car up.
bdyman
10-25-2008, 02:39 PM
our cars cant really do crazy exhaust, its goin to have to be the single muffler, and pipe off the side or in the factroy location, like i said no tips no nothing just pipe dumped before the rear suspension, or coming out right before the rocker molding
cliff`s car is real loud in the shop, as long as my boss knows your coming its fine, bring the denali with the trailor so i can look at what you want

Coker has some whitewalls that would fit. 15" with a 2" whitewall or 16" with a 1 1/2" whitewall.

the 53 chevy is someone at work whom i worked with yrs ago and is into the rockabilly scene big time, the car is chopped 6in, bumpers shortened, guards removed, all shaved, bagged, pics dont do this car justice, it is an amazing car, he alos has a 29 rat rod, chopped, sectioned, bed is hand built, dash board hand built, another awesome car
that 53chev is beautiful i love those cars , would look cool as a rat rod , flat black like jesse james fuckingitupagain chevy
