Ok i know there are a lot of threads on this but this would help me get the answers a lot faster. Anyways i want to put projectors in my car and was wonder what is the best headlights to get to harvest the projectors from. i would like to get some for cheap and have them go in fairly easy. Also for the people that have done this, how hard is it to do. I would say i am a little handy but if its something that is out of my league, probably don't want to try it. Is this something that i could knock out in a day or weekend? Thanks for the help!

I don't think a definitive choice has been made yet. Two or three folks here actually had them, but i'm not sure if a shop retrofitted them or if they were home made. I tried it with the buggy eye headlights from an older Acura Integra, but ya have to butcher the assembly to get it in there. I've heard the best ones are the Germans: BMW, Audi, etc.

any bimmer would work. The best projector are probably out of a TSX. I tried Lexus but they are too long.

The projectors with best beam patterns are from a Honda S2000 or Acura TSX. It's not an easy project and it's very time consuming, especially if you get easily distracted like me :p

I used TSX projectors in mine with Infiniti G35 ballasts and Phillips 4300K HID bulbs. I modified them a little to get more of the nice blue cutoff. I just need to make a shroud so that only the projector lens shows through and the rest of the projector body is covered.

I like your projectors, Spilner. However, you do need to fabricate something to go around the projector housing to hide the mount and make it look more clean and that it actually belongs there. lol

Yeah thanks :p I said that's what I needed to do. I would never put them on the car like that without the projector body being covered. I already have some plastic cut out to fit around the projector, I just need to fit it into the low beam housing and glue it in and then paint everything to match.

Yep. I didn't get just the projectors, I got the whole headlight assemblies and had to tear them apart to get the projectors out. I also bought the G35 ballasts on eBay and a set of brand new phillips 4300K bulbs.

This wasn't a whole kit, I pieced everything together. Using OEM components is way better than any aftermarket kit.

They do, but I didn't go through them for anything. These were made by me.

very time consuming, what did you use to hold the projector brackets? and any pics of installed?

Yeah they are very time consuming. I started this project in late February, and this is as far as it is, and only one headlight is this far. I haven't even pulled the other one apart yet. Then again I also haven't worked on it since probably early April. I took those pics a couple minutes before I posted them that day.

There aren't any brackets that hold it in. I had to cut out the middle of the reflector housing to fit the projector housing through. If you look at the pics you can see screws in all four corners of the projector body. All I did was drill holes for the screws in the housing, run the screws through the holes and tighten a nut down on the screw to the the whole projector in place.

No pics of them installed because I didn't install them yet. I need to cut a small circle in the frame where the headlight mounts since the bulb mount sticks further out the back of the headlight than stock.

not to sound too stupid... but what makes that so time consuming? that seems like maybe an 2 hour project, if your being really careful.

(discluding the fact that i'm sure your busy w/ other things in your life)

-alero- could you go back and edit your website post... its stretching the crap outta this thread...

It takes time to take the projector out of the old headlight, deciding how it should fit into an Alero headlight, taking apart the Alero headlight, measuring where to cut, and then cutting without messing everything up too bad. Then comes figuring out how to mount it and getting the nuts and bolts or other parts you need to actually mount it. Then there's painting everything which probably should've been done before you mounted it. Then you have to make sure it's aimed correctly in reference to how the high beam is aimed, plus you have to make sure it's not spun at all so you'll get a nice horizontal cut off instead of a tilted one.

If you've never done it before, like me, it's a learning experience which means it takes that much longer, plus I'm very easily distracted :p

Those projectors are bangin'! Looks like most of the Aleros (2) with projectors are in western ny!:yahoo:

Mine still are not done. I cant figure out how to mount them the way I want. Got any ideas?

By the way, there is not tutorial or instructions on how to do this or what to use... thats what makes it hard. YOU are the fabricator. yOU have to make it work. It is a b****.
