ok, i've been looking around, and i think split flex tubing looks pretty cheap, so i went out searching for something else.

thinking about using expandable sleeving, since it comes in all colors (even UV reactive) and many different materials (metal braid, fiberglass, flame retardant)

might even try to cap the ends off with heat shrink.

if i did this, and could put a kit together, would anyone be interested? i cant say how much it would cost right now, but i'd say under 50 bucks for every visible cable/hose in the engine bay.

expanded and "installed", just to get an idea.

i'll probably use stock clamps for the hoses, and either zip ties or heat shrink for wires.

Have to see a finished product but its something i would pay for...

FormulaNERD

it's cheaper in bulk, so tonight i'm going to go measure how much i need for each diameter, and order enough for 3 or 4 sets, i'm sure i can sell at least that many. maybe 2 chrome, 1 blue, and one graphite

jackal2000
06-22-2004, 01:23 PM
i'd buy a kit from ya

FormulaNERD
06-22-2004, 01:29 PM
alright, i'm gonna get on this asap.... on wed or thur i'm gonna take all the measurements, well at least the diameters, need to get ahold of a dial caliper or something.

Form, post a pic of the materials, and a finished pic of yours when it's done. If it's got a clean look to it, I'm sure there are lots of us who'll be ordering B)

P.S. anything in gold?

FormulaNERD

speaking of springs, i ordered them tonight (this morning, whatever it is). most likely, i'm gonna hold off on the drop until i get my rims. a friend of mine in lexington has a shop where he does anything and everything under the sun. he's cutting me a deal on the rims that i want and he said he would put the springs on for me too. so i can't really beat that. but thanks for offering to do it for me.

yea, you could take the measurements of my car if you wanted to but i don't know if i wanna drive all the way down there just for that, unless you were to ever so graciously give me the kit once you've got it finished... i mean, you know it is an 8 hr trip down and back, plus the miles i'd be putting on the car and the gas... :)

i could be nasty about it and say that if he wanted to measure my car that he could drive his happy ass up here but i try not to be like that too often. it doesn't matter to me either way. if you used my car as an example though, it may draw more people with the 2.4 into wanting the kit. perhaps, hell i don't know. i'm not being hateful or anything, so please don't take it that way. ;)

well i wouldnt be exaggerating to say that there are easily 1000+ aleros in the clarksville, tn area.... so i'm sure i'll be alright.

besides, i dont have a 2.4 why should i care? :P

maybe your "buddy" at the shop will clear your corners too, so you can take off the tinted covers and and actually see when you drive at night

why you should care about the 2.4 is beyond me to be truthful, you mentioned measuring my car, not me. :) i can see just fine at night time now, without taking my covers off. i changed the toggle switch on my fogs so i can see just fine. lol i actually did something on my own for a change. clear corners tho, not sure it really even wanna do that if i'm gonna keep the covers on. kinda defeats the purpose, imo.

not to get into this too much, but sorta sounds like ur tryin to sucker her into goin to see u just so u can measure the wires...

anyways, kit sounds like a good idea, but yet again, i get screwed cuz i got most of my stuff sittin at home waitin to get done :(

huh? even if she wanted to come down, i dont know if i could find time for her... thats not the issue.

but if some dirtbag is gonna try and sell her some 16 or 17" prime wheels for 1200 with some 255/50 tires for 1200, she's getting ripped off. i honestly dont know if she knows what to look for... just trying to help her out.

i've known this guy for about 23 years, since i was 2. we were neighbors until i was 20. he's not gonna screw me over. he knoooows better... i haven't decided yet which ones i want but my first pick is the enkei zr1 hyper black. he priced those to me at $740 for all 4. my second choice is the american racing sniper and he priced those at $670. trust me, i've done extensive research on these, he's giving me a damn good deal. however, if you find them cheaper, lemme know. he's kinda scared of me for some reason... i thought by now, he would have gotten over the fact that i broke his arm when we were in the 3rd grade... :P

rest assured, i'm not completley ignorant when it comes to rims/tires. i've done appearance mods before, i guess i never showed you a pic of my truck? well not mine now since i sold it but yea, i'll have to find a pic. everything that is on her, i picked out myself. i got lucky on the camaro, it was already fixed up engine wise, but i did everything else myself. sure wish i could find a pic of the camaro, the beretta, or the talon (which took 2nd in show at carl caspers back in 95. to those who aren't familiar with carl casper car show, it's like the biggest show in kentucky). i take that back, i have pics of the talon, just gotta find someone to scan them for me.

dammit my computer is going slow....... yea i had talked to him last week about what i was looking at and then he called me this weekend, said he had photoshopped both rims with my car. so i went over and looked at them. i'm kinda leaning towards the snipers because of the chrome would look better on my car, rather than the hyper black. they just looked too plain jane for my taste. i've never owned anything except for chrome so i'll prolly go with the snipers. yea ya'll gonna see a big change in my car in the next few months... thanks to the $22K deposit that was just made to my bank account. i'm like a kid in a candy store, dunno if i should just do stuff to this car or go buy a 04 Alero and go all out with it and leave the 01 as a daily driver... decisions, decisions....

sorry skyler, i'll let you have your thread back now. :)

do the zr1's come in other colors? cause personally i dont like the sniper's as much as the zr1's, but you're right, i dont know how the hyper black will look on your car...

for chrome i'm still a big fan of the epic interceptor...

yea i got the money and i'm gonna get the rims but i'm gonna make sure it's what i want first. i don't want to order them, get them put on the car and then be like, what was i thinking?

zr1's in other colors? i'm not sure. i've pretty much decided that the hyper black would not look good on my car. so those are scratched off my list. now i've got 2 others that i'm looking at besides the snipers. my friend stopped by tonight and gave me a catalog so that'll be my entertainment at work tonight, trying to figure out what i'm gonna buy. the epic interceptors are one of the ones i'm looking at. but i'm still leaning more toward the snipers tho...
