Wheel spacers... *digs fox hole*

I'm not particularly fond of how the rear wheels are tucked into the body more than the fronts, so I'd like to push them out a bit. My wheels aren't available in a different offset and I'm not wanting to buy 4 new wheels.

I know wheel spacers are death for a car so I'm not even looking into those. How about the wheel adapters? They look pretty solid, but I don't want to use anything that could hurt the vehicle. I haven't found any reviews other then positive marketing. Opinions?

i used wheel adapter which also space out. they are 1" and have not had any issues.

I'm using spacers in the rear but I don't have longer wheel studs. My spacer is 1/4" at most though, which is all i needed.

now your wheel lugs have 1/4" less thread in them than factory. Which works but not as safe. I would replace with longer studs just for a safety factor.

as long as you aren't putting alot of lateral stress on them, you'll be ok. Only thing that might prove a hindrance to spacing the wheels out more is if you go to lowering later on, where you won't have the wheel-well clearance.

the spacer is gonna be your best bet. you dont need them to come out much at all, 1/4" would be more than enough.
an adpater will have to be much larger than you need thus pushing the wheel out too much and will look like garbage.

It will technically put more stress on the wheels bearing, since the extra distance gives the wheel more torque on them. However, from the sounds of it, it's not a problem to be worried about.

Its a lever effect.

Providing you have at least 3/4" of each stud sticking out you should be fine. Thats about as much engagement as a stock lug nut provides.

If anyone wants to be technical, you should have 1 1/2" depth as you do diameter. Thats the shear stength of the bolt then.

yep i did the spacing to match the OSV. Because the OSV had a 1" spacer but like the OSV, I had to not only do it for the look but also clearance between the tires and the springs on the coilovers.

Are you running stock springs Oldsman? What size are those OSV wheels/tires cause it practically looks dropped.

I'm already dropped 2" up front and 2.5" (gah!) in the rear.

I am running custom adjustable koni coilovers that came off the OSV. the wheels are 18x7.5 with 255/40r18 pilot XGT. My car is dropped but not too much so the tires don't wheelwells.

it is a 5x115 to a 5x114.3 1" thick.

I have spaces and haven't had a problem! My wheels don't stick out at all, and I got 20's on there....just an FYI

they are.....i thought they were 5x114.3 being that is what the wheels are. maybe not, anyways 4 years here to and several 30-40mph curves at 75+ and no issues
