This is the how to for the 2.4. Im thinking the eco should pretty much be the same.

yeah... you turn the wheel to the right all the way and pull the fender liner off, then you can rip apart the stock plastic shit in the fenderwell.

That's what I do with mine when I go to the track.
4 bolts under the bumper, 2 on the body behind the wheel, one up top.
3 body pins as well. remove headlight and push from inside the fenderliner ;)

nah that autozone shits plastic and super gay. My buddy used that stuff and no offence, we all dubbed him Corrolla Racing after that, just buy a V6 CAI and a coupler, thats it. once u see it itll make sense. and just a heads up that lower stock box is a PITA
AleroDrime

that lower box was by far the bigest PITA, I made the mistake of takeing it on after working 20+ houres and only getting 3 houres of sleep, I thought it would be easy as eating pie, but it was more like eating pie with razorblades in it.

hardest part for me is affording the extra pipe i think

you could always go the PVC rout, lol

i dont think a cosmos gunna work, and considering that a v6 CAI is only 65 i doubt anyones gunna hand u a cosmo for less than that,
if u dont have the cash dont mod
No point goin on about how u dont have the cash

There wouldnt be a down side to a pvc cai, other than how goofy it would be. If you paint it, it wouldnt look too bad, personally I wouldnt do it, I would find some metal tubing and fab something up, or go to autozone and get that flex tube stuff.

it's just a 90 degree aluminum bend out of whatever OD you're using for the other stuff, and a straight silicone coupler.

i, like most members, stopped counting how much i've spent. You either enjoy it, and buy when you have the extra, or you bail, and fall off the site.
...or... your like ION, and spend every ounce of cash you have, including student loans, to improve a car that'll never be worth the money put into it.... just so you can impress teh womenz by doing wheel spins around them.

I spent 60 to have my struts and springs installed, and alignment. I love Mexico
Yeah, but the piping shouldn't be too expensive. I think you should be able to get it with the 50 you mentioned. After all, you already have the actual filter, so all you need is pipes.
AleroDrime
08-05-2009, 11:09 AM
ok ion, but from the how too it seemed like there needed to be a 90 degree turn or something after it was in the fender area too
[ion] C2
08-05-2009, 11:14 AM
I don't know, it depends on how you want to run it, look at the hole and figure it out. Pipe routing isn't that hard.

lol guys i make a 320 every 2 weeks, working everynight, subtract carpayment and what i do to help the bills and i dont have a lot left.
thats working two jobs. 6 nights a week at one restraunt and like 3or4 shifts to another.
Ive found higher paying jobs but the hours there arent as available
oh yeah gotta subtract girlfriend expenses too
life sucks, and im just in the beginning stages

Ditch the g/f and that should free up modding $$ lol but i just redid my cai when i installed my 2.3 manifold and it was a 45 bend into the hole then a 90 bend with a filter on it
AleroDrime
08-05-2009, 12:52 PM
so after it goes down there i needs to bend again?
1 45degree 1 90 dregree and one strait pipe is needed, how long should that peice be
heineck
08-05-2009, 12:56 PM
it doesnt have to u could run it straight down its up to u

Dude I'm making $800 CDN every two weeks collecting Employment Insurance, and I'm still modding my car, I'm not spending as much as I did when I was working but I'm still spending and it's aways less than $320 even when converted to USD, you shuld be able to pull it off lol and your girl will not mind you spending less on her and more on your car if she is to you what she says she is. lol remember when she says "it's just a car" you have to say "and you're just a girl" don't worry man I've been in your postition before and I'm sure I'll be there again just don't forget what you learn from it.

I had about 2400 in the car, had it been turbo'ed, that would have gone up to a little under 4K. Built engine as planned the next summer would have been 5 or 6.
I had close to all the money I made this summer towards turbo parts, and the day I got in the accident, was planning on spending another 700 to get the last of the shit I needed.

Most likely the other way around. 90 degree to get into the hole into the fender, and then 45 to get enough room away from the body to fit a filter on the end of the piping.
I used to have a picture of when I ran mine, but now I don't even have an intake. Just an open turbo. I have to figure out a way to route piping to a nice filter away from the heat back there, but for now, it's just nothing.

dude...
1. pop the 3 tabs off the side of the fender well plastic
2. take off the bolt for the plastic guards connection to the top plastic peice(right next to the last pushpin you pop out) 10mm bolt i believe
3. remove headlight if desired to have more light/arm room
4. remove all stock plastic air box piping, and the air box itself , 10mm bolts again i believe maybe bigger.
5. make sure all stock stuff is gone.
6. if running all the way from the throttle body remove the stock ruffled looking tube with the sensors (at least on the v6) add your coupler re hook the sensors.
7. eyeball and measure the route you wanna take to the fender well (filter sits right behind the plastic you have pulled back so its hidden when you put the pushpins and bolt back on.
8. get cone filter, install with clamp to the end of the tubing
9. let plastic fender guard cover fall back to place, re push in the push clips to the holes and bolt the 10mm bolt to connect the two pieces again
10. put headlight back in (if took off)
11. stand back and admire your handy work
if this doesnt help GTFO lol

Then this 45* bend down into the fender

You know kiddo, I really think you should STOP MODDING THE CAR!! A thread that 3 pages long for a simple insert slot "A" into slot "B" is just crazyness.
I could see asking the questions and this turning into a 2 page thread after a Thread Jesus brings it back after 3 years, but you just don't get it
