Thanks for arranging this. Do you know if the group buy will remain open until the 31st even if more than 20 sets are ordered prior to the 31st, or will it close once 20 sets are ordered?

No problem.
As stated on the ordering page, PFYC will order 25 sets once they have received 20 pre-orders. I do not know if they plan on ordering any more if they receive more than 25 pre-orders.
I guess what I'm saying is.......shit or get off the pot.

That's what I assumed as well. I'm definitely ordering, just keeping an eye on the exchange rate and might be able to save a few $, but don't want to miss the boat on this.

Thats actually not bad considering it's only been like 1 1/2 days. We almost have half the required amount of people with 18 days to go.

^lol, I'm glad we have some dedicated people who are actually going through with this. <30 to be made from the sound of it so we'll have some rare parts. My friend is going to put his deposit down next week when he gets paid so theres another +1... I just wish nbodys were a bit more popular for stuff like this, any word on how things are looking on the grandam and Malibu forums?

I made my purchase yesterday and am the #8 guy. I posted on unitedmalibus.com but the site is running at a very slow pace. There may be only a few of us that would buy them but it might be too late until others find out.

paypal says my cash will be in by the 24th :( I hope PFYC waits until the 31st as originally indicated so I can get in on this... I would hate to miss out due to money transfer time...
Just in case... will they be able to request more bars during the production run if they proceed with the original 25 sets with 20 pre orders if more people get in at the last minute (of the 31st deadline) or will they need another 20 sets for another run of bars?

Absolute worse case scenario, I wouldn't mind paying for your set and you can reimburse me when it comes.

Also, if they're getting 25 sets made but only require 20 of us to be in on it, wouldn't that mean they would keep 5 sets in their inventory for anyone who missed it? Or am I missing something here..

I don't think it automatically updates itself. The guys at PFYC might have to manually update it themselves and seeing how it was the weekend, they probably weren't working so it didnt get updated.

Paid. That should make it 19.

Tw0123, I wouldn't stress too much about it, even if you can't pay in time if they cut it off at 20 (this is still an assumption based on the wording of the group buy since no one has confirmed this), I'm sure you can work something out with the guys at PFYC to reserve one of the additional 5 sets if you let them know about having to wait for your transfer.

Tim, we're trying to find out if they'll allow us to place the order and then maybe add a few more bars in before it's finalized. I'll get back to you when I find out, but as of now we have enough to get the order going with the manufacturer.

At this time, he does not know if they will be allowed to add more sets, but he is looking into it... As of now, it looks like I'm screwed, especially if they don't take pay pal... dammit :(

Thats what i am trying to find out now and if more will be ordered if we have 30 orders and they will get 5 extra as an example we needed 20 and they were willing to have 5 because 25 was minumum order I would like to se it at 35 all together , but i also dont want them eating any of this for their excellent effort I

WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS BUY STAY OPEN UNTIL THE 31ST CUTOFF DATE Is that ok with everyone else ????

That would make it fair for those who need the extra time to get financing

I will post when i find out from PFYC

and to top it off, someone on gagt was saying how fast this platform is dying off... less than 2 weeks and we have more than enough for the buy to happen... yet its dying off... right.... lol

big thanks to Matt for helping us out with this buy, and to everyone who offered to help others (me especially)... truly shows that this is more than just a forum about a car... it is really a family community that sticks together... a thing I am very proud to be a member of...

I could wait... My plans this year for my Alero have been put to a halt. I'm probably going to be looking into a second car for school and parking the Alero in the winter..

I'm still glad we got such an amazing turn out. Even though these are taking longer than expected, atleast we had so many n-body owners that came
together to make this work and it happened. I'm always glad to see that aftermarket parts for the n-body platform can be available if we all work together.

If they haven't even been manufactured yet IDK if I want to drop that kind of money for something that hasn't even been thought about yet.

it'd be a HUGE help is ya did :awesome:

if Papa gets someone else to take his spot, you're not out of luck. PFYC ordered 5 extra sets I believe for their own stock. So you still may get lucky unless they fly off the shelves quickly. Also some people already had the front and only needed the rears and were forced to buy both in the group buy and vice versa so you should be able to buy each piece off some of the members who are getting in on the group buy.

tw0123

i dont know why you are all upset about it... they said roughly 6-8 weeks after the order was submitted... it also turned out to be much larger then expected, so that will take more time for the company to produce the required sets to fill the order to be shipped back. they sent a recognition that the test pair was in and tested on the car for approval... would you have rather they skipped that stage and just shipped everything and have it end up like the osv kit that went horribly wrong???
i for one do not mind the extra wait time... ya it would have been nice to get them in mid march as we all thought, but at the same time, quality takes time to manufacture... be patient and it will be worth the wait... previous members who have these bars will attest to that fact...

The picture for the replacement bushings is misleading.
The bushings that come with the bar are not grease-able, and you need to use you existing mounting brackets (the bushings fit perfectly in them).

Everyone who bought new swaybars -
Please be careful! These bars will drastically alter the handling of the car. It's very neutral, but if you overcook a corner the back-end will come around on you. It's fine if you are prepared for it, but I don't want anyone wrecking driving like a hooligan in an uncontrolled setting.

With front and rear or just one or the other?

Ive never really pushed the car hard enough to see what would happen with the regular ones so I hope I don't reach this limitation on these!

Thanks for the heads up

I used both on my car and it was neutral. If you do just the front bar it understeers like a pig; just a rear bar and the ass-end gets pretty skittish.

They will really draw attention to shitty tires.

I dony know for sure but the new ones are much thicker than stock, so unless you drill out the bushing somehow.. Its most likely a no

colonel6632
05-21-2012, 09:58 PM
two things.

1. those bushings are supposed to work i believe since it says they are for next level or speedbuilt. not factory.

2. ya the cradle has to drop. but its just 3 bolts on each side. and then there are 3 bolts for a mount thats attached to the cradle. pull them too, drop it

heres how i did it basically. there wont be pictures since i already installed them

1. lift front of car off the ground, supper each side with jackstands in a secure spot and remove jack. obviously dont put the jack stands on the subframe.

2. remove tires (optional) just makes life easier.

3. put jack in the middle of the subframe. near the back of it. you'll see where.

4, there is a... 22mm? bolt that goes through the control arm, sub frame, and then into the car. pull them on each side

5. then after those there are 2 little.... 15mm? bolts, pull those.

6. slowly lower the jack so the subframe and the engine fall down

7. there is also 1 bolt and 2 nuts that hold down a tranny mount i believe. i pulled that so that it just moves a bit.

8. remove endlinks.

9. pull the swaybar brackets... 15mm? bolt i believe. easy to pull

10. remove swaybar

11. do reverse and tighten everything

So you didn't have to disconnect the tie rod ends or the steering intermediate shaft? Every procedure I've read so far says to do those steps.

http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GA4008/ALSUSP/Speedbuilt+Replacement+Bushings+for+N-Body.html

I just ordered Energy Suspension grease-able bushings using the following part numbers taken from an older PFYC sway bar group buy post I found for the same bars.

ENS-9.5158 Rear
ENS-9.5164 Front

I did not buy the PFYC bushings because of the following statement at the bottom of the page on their website:

"You can use your existing brackets, they're not included with these bushings."

This statement is very misleading and because the PFYC price is a little cheaper than anywhere else I found, it's unclear if the brackets are included or not.

billytheman1188

Their saying "you can use these new bushings with the old brackets....but the brackets aren't included"....so if for some reason you needed new brackets, you have to buy them separate.

I still don't think that statement should be there at all and no other site that sells those same bushings has it, so I don't see any valid purpose for it other than causing customer confusion which is why I purchased my bushings from another site even though it cost me a bit more. But I didn't want to take any chances buying the PFYC bushings based on their product description.

PFYC also doesn't include the size information or Energy Suspension part numbers for reference, so there's not enough information provided for me to make an informed purchase decision to know exactly what I'm getting from them.

i disagree entirely about them not putting that statement...if you take the time to read it (paying attention to wording
), it makes perfect sense what it says...I would be mad however if they didn't put it and you were expecting it to have new brackets because it doesn't say anything only to find out that there are none
