On my 2001 olds alero 2.4l 4cyl DOHC it gets to about 3 to 4k rpms shifts like normal then you feel the car jerk and the severity of the jerk is different depending on how hard i hit the throttle. Ive replaced the map sensor transmission speed sensor changed the transmission fluid and filter idle air control valve cleaned every sensor and replaced the Evap Canister Purge Valve Soleniod. Any help would be awesome thanks.

No sensors are all plugged in and new. Its a 4 speed automatic so the only fluid for the tranny is the tranny fluid. Im trying to figure out if its something cheap before i tear it apart.

did you replace the IAT sensor? not sure if they are similar but my 3.4 did this when it was shot and the IAT sensor fixed it.

located on the plactic intake tube that goes to your air box. if you dont have a service engine light on then i will be interested in hearing if this fixes it. something you could try to do (and it may only be temperary) is disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. this will clear all shift adapts and will pretty much give you a clean slate.

Where are the muffler bearings? And I've already done the battery thing and it doesn't help at all

What you perceive as a jerk could feel normal to me. How severe is this?

jmray91
06-13-2012, 07:19 PM
Its pretty severe like you can literally feel the car jerk forward after it shifts cause it jerks forward pretty hard.

if the IAT sensor doesn't fix it, maybe your transmission is just going bad

I was told by my buddy to check to see if my transmission lines or valve body are clogged do you think that could be the problem cause i really dont have 2gs for a new transmission. Do you think it could be a transmission control soleniod?

ok ive narrowed it down to transmission flush, worn cv axle, MisAdjusted, Disconnected, Faulty Modulator Valve or Improperly Adjusted or Damaged Shift Linkage which one you guys think

transmission flush - could help

worn cv axle - highly doubt it

MisAdjusted, Disconnected, Faulty Modulator Valve - should have a code?

Improperly Adjusted or Damaged Shift Linkage - no. once your in drive... no moving of the shift cable. set it and forget it. not your problem.

Where are the muffler bearings?

Muffler bearings are right behind the header panel, next to the headlights.

I know an easy fix to the tranny soilnoid on a 93 Cavy was to just unplug it, however, the tranny soilnoid on these cars, is inside the tranny. I forget if it's a serviceible part on the 4T40E, to the tune of $700 for just labor, or if when it goes, it's just time for a new tranny

I hope you didn't flush the tranny and just changed the filter and the 3 or so quarts of fliud that come with the filter change. If the tranny is slipping, and you had it flushed, you will have your tranny go out shortly. It happened to me

I wrote a review on the Lucas tranny fix fliud stuff. I liked the results

ok car hits 3 to 4k rpms it feels like the car speed gain slows slightly but its still there. Then rpms go to 2k then car jerks forward and gains like 5 mph
