Hi. I am living in Poland and we need DRL or 24h low beam lights, is it easy to make it ?
my alero has/had it, but right now my V6 engine is dead, and i purchased european version of alero - chevrolet with 2.4 engine for parts, i changed all wires, ecu, bcm, engine and transmission, and that car has not DRL, but i need it :(
any ideas?
Thanks for help

Yes, i found something similar, but maybe is something as regular DRL on hi-beam on 6volts, as i had ?

could you not just install it on your fog lights, or ise some led strips somewhere?

of course, i can use led strips, panel led lights etc. but i would like to have as factory DRL, is it programmed or it needs some special module box.

All aleros have DRL's. on 99-02 models the high beams were set for them then 03-04 they were switched to low beam drls. so if everything is put together right they should work. if not you could wire something into the parking lights to run for them (dont quote me on that, its been a while) fogs wont work because they dont come on with the stock drl set up.

I did it :), purchased BCM + ECU from USA version :)
right now whole engine swap from 3.4 into 2.4 has complete :)
everything works, next step is turbo

Only i have small problem with oxygen sensor, becouse engine has 1-wire oxygen, but ECU wants oxygen with heating, tommorow will try put some resistor for simulation, or... i do not know yet :)

Ok wanna bring this back to topic.
He switched the BCM and ECU for the US versions ones. But what I still wonder is there a way to get the export models to run the DRL or not?
As far as I found out NONE of the export models ever had DRL or something like that.
What else is used in the DRL setup?

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The ambient light sensor is a light sensitive transistor that varies its voltage signal to the body control module (BCM) in response to changes to the outside (ambient) light level. When the BCM receives this signal it will either turn on the daytime running lights (DRL) or the headlights. Any function or condition that turns on the headlights will cancel the daytime running lamps operation. With the headlight switch in the OFF position, the headlights will either be turned ON or OFF, after an approximate 30 second delay depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The HTR A/C IGN fuse in the underhood junction block supplies ignition positive voltage to the daytime running lamp (DRL) relay coil circuit. The DRL relay switch contacts are connected to the low beam circuit. When the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position, the BCM will either turn on or off the daytime running lamps, depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The BCM energizes the DRL relay, closing the switch contacts and grounding the low beam circuit. Ground is provided at G201. The DRL illuminate the low beam headlights at a reduced intensity. The DRL will operate when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the gear selector is not in the PARK position and the parking brake is released. When these conditions have been met and the ambient light sensor indicates daytime conditions, the DRL will illuminate.
DRL operation in Manual Transmission equipped vehicles will occur when the ignition switch is in the ON position, and the parking brake is released.

The BCM energizes the DRL relay
the relay can be re installed in export cars, now only to figure out if the export BCM does get / send the signals needed.
And this is where the minds seperate, one says BCMs of Export/ domestic are the same, the other says they are different.
