I have a 2002 4 door gls w/o a sun roof. My question is if I could get my hands on a complete setup are the cars ready for it. I figured since there already seems to be a fuse for it in the panel that all I would need is everything else. But my biggest question is are the roof suports setup for it in all carsand they just cut out the sheetmetal for the sunroof or are there 2 differant roof stuctures depending on wether got got the sunroof or not. Any help woul be apreciated as I am now kicking my self in the asss for not goining with the one that was a year older with 5k extra miles but had the roof.

I'm getting a Webasto sunroof in mine on Tuesday for $600 installed, but since it's a 2-door they can only fit in a power pop-up slide-back type. A 4-door can go all out with the one-touch power moonroof for a little over $1000 installed. Also, the webastos have a 5-year waranty against breakage or leaks, and it provides coverage for whatever gets ruined if it does leak (God forbid...)

If you do it yourself the only problem you might have is correcting for the curve of the roof, left to right. It can leak pretty bad if you don't do it right.

My main question is if I remove the head liner will i see an outline of a sunroof in the support structure of the roof

probably, I don't think the :knob:'s over at GM would spend the cash on 2 different support frames.

I dunno what the weather's like there, but if I were looking for one, I'd go to an autowreckers and just start ripping apart a car. That's how I figured out how to remove all of the vent covers so I could paint them. Going to a wreckers and wrecking a car can be a very informative experience imo. :D

I wouldnt agree with that completely, because there have been leaking problems that must be fixed on some of the sunroofs so thats kinda a .....issue

It's better to get the sunroof with the car from the factory unless you want to worry about it leaking...speaking from experience. Had my alero come from the factory with the sun & sound package--less to worry about plus covered under warranty.

I install webasto/hollandia and ASC roofs. And to answer ALL yours questions, no there is not any sort of frame on roofs w/out a sunroof. Factory roofs will not work with cars without either. There is a beam right above the domelight on the alero with out factory roofs. We have to cut it out before install, run drain tubes at all 4 corners, then recover the headliner. All in a days work!
