I am also in process of a retrofit. I have E46 single xenon projectors and custom chrome bezels, Hella Gen 3 ballasts and D2S 4100K bulbs.

I'm also workin on a HID projector retrofit. quick question...would you need to modify it so that the low beams stay on with the high beams? it cant be a good thing for the HID bulb to flicker on and off if you're flashin the high beams a couple times.

not sure that it does anythign for the bulbs, they are already warm by the time you would be flashing, so they ignite immediately.....

on another note....im sure you are the one that is going to get flashed.... ;)

maybe......its just that i've driven a few bmw's and mercedes at work and noticed when you flick on the high beams, the low beam HID's stay on while the high beams come on. i dunno if it'll do any harm, just figured it was designed that way for a reason. on a side note, the bi-xenon high beams on the mercedes are amazing :thumb: they light things up clearly from about 200 yards away. that would be the ideal route to take with the high beams.

i'll be ok...the projectors will be aimed correctly so it wont blind people, you'll just be able to see that gorgeous blue flicker from a distance.

im pretty sure that when you just pull the light stalk to flash the high beams, the low's stay on. its only when you push it so that they stay on, do the lows go off. ( r is it the other way? push pull....)

Well the wiring shouldnt be to confusing becasue id imagine the high beams have 3 wires coming into it..

Pos 12v
Neg

becasue of the daytime running lamps, pulling the power wire and trying to extent it to the lows would be hard and im not sure how the low voltage boost would effect it....ill figure something out.

^ Theres a really easy way to disable the DRL's

Silentalero

true...so that way ill just have to do this...Take the + from the brights that activate it, since everything works on a 12v systems and run it over to the regular headlight so theres a constant power flow. and incase that doesnt work then run the power from the reg headlight to a relay and the brights to the relay so itll cut off the power to the reg and the bright will hit the reg at the same time to turn both on at once....Its basic wiring actually
