What is the widest wheel you can put on an alero. My friend has some Limited Type 341 on his 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, and I was just wondering if they would work on mine. I'm getting and 18 in. rim but they only sell 7.5 or 8.5 and he has no idea what it is would either work or what. I don't want to take it to a tire store to see if it will work because I'm spending all my money on the rims, so I don't want to pay them to tell me it will work or anything. But I need all the help I can get

the 7.5 would eaisly work, 8.5 you might have probs depending on if you have lowering springs, and what size tire you put on, but an 18x7.5 rim will fit fine, thats waht my new rims are and I have the sprint lowering springs

i would 8 inch rims would be widest. depending on tire height and tire width you might be able to fit a 8.5 but would need to space it out to give a safe enough clearance from the strut.

I'm going to just go to his house and see what the diameter is with the tire and the width. If all else fails I'll use a tape measure

depending on offset and tire width the 8's might rub. best bet is try them on and see

Is there anything in specific I should look for or just make sure I can fully turn the wheel and that it doesn't rub the springs

that is basically it. make sure there is enough room for give in the suspension.

I have 18 x 8.5 rims with 225/40/18 rubber and they fit fine with no clearance issues. I also have eibach lowing springs also.

i'm running 235/40/17's and i can barely get my pinky between my back tire and strut.

it all depends on the offset.... I'm running +40 offset and 235/50/17 and there is like 3 mm of space between the tire and strut.

No offset is the inside of the wheel going around the brakes

must be between +38 to +42. I tryed +45's and the wheels where rubbing the calipers and the wheels would wobble
