THIS!

The hazard switch is part of the turn signal circuitry. IF you disconnect the hazard button, you have no blinkers.

Go online, look for Alero hazard switch and you'll be okay. Trust us on this.

Someone skimmed a little bit :p
Redog was talking about ordering it, he was just making a point of the fact that he found his info using the search button because so many people have been reposting questions of the same exact thing within weeks of the question being answered, this thread is from 2009...My add on at the end while without reading everything was stating the fact that if the hazard button doesn't fix it, then your multi-function switch contacts are either dirty or ruined (usually just dirty)

You guys are all wrong. I don't know why no one has mentioned this commonly overlooked maintenance...

How do i take the hazard switch out 2000 alero. I know its a few screws but does anyone know of a video or directions. Mine needs to be replaced. Thanks

Redog 05-29-2014 05:42 PM

Sadly there is no how to on this, as I need to change mine as well. I have a brand new one ready to go in

I was talking to another memebr on here VIA facebook and he said there are no bolts or screws holding it in, but you have to remove the cluster to gain access.

Does anybody have a how to?

Oldsnut 05-29-2014 06:15 PM

I believe that there is one bolt holding it in if my memory serves me right. I pulled on at a salvage yard years ago to see how hard it was to get out.

I believe on my 03 there were 3 screws...one on each side on the bottom and one up top...they could have changed

Opened it up, didn't see any bolts, plus I cannot pull out my center vents because of the dash cap

Kchav 09-19-2014 03:20 PM

Alright figured out dont have to take dash off just take the vent off easy access. Two clips on the bottom are a pain but it wasnt too hard.
