how do i wire this?
2 Attachment(s)
im confuesed...dont make fun of me but how do i wire this...there is pos and neg terminals on both sides of the sub
|
|
just run another price of wire from that first wire you put on there to the other terminal. make sure you wire them properly for your amp.

it depends on how many ohms u want it to show up as.

^^^ +1 Just saying to run a wire between the two is oversimplification. You need to see how many ohms your amp is rated for and determine the best method for wiring your DVC sub. |

That is why I gave him the woofer wizard silly  |
any one wanna lemme know what to do with the rem wire off the amp with out cyber slapping me
|

remote wire from the amp goes to the remote wire on the back of the head unit, I think it is blue with a white stripe, just check to make sure. that is needed to turn on the amp. |
Or Wire Up A Switch
|
r u shure, theres already the rca cables being run to the head, why would that wire be for that

The remote wire is so the amp will not be on all the time. It will be on only when the stereo or car is on. RCA's are so the amp know what to play. If you didnt have rca's the amp wouldnt do anything because it would be receiving no signal as to what to play. |
man that sucks thats alotta exta wire, does taht need to be a certain guage or can i use a peice of cheapo wire if its for taht it doesnt need to be realy quality does it
|
it can be rather small. its only carrying like 300ma. 18-20ga should work just fine.
|
^ beat me to it
|
If I take that rem wire a put a swith to it I can easily and safely turn the amp on and off right? I was gonna try to do in on the power source but I heard that was a bad idean if you have a capacitor
|
lol
DO NOT SWITCH THE MAIN POWER WIRE. But you can put a switch on the remote wire. |
lols, i was lazy and since it was my first time, i bought the 79$ one from walmart that came with everything i needed, 5 and 6 ga wire, capacitor, RCA, and t really tiny remote wire
|
i know the kit your talking about, its a bit of a rip,
|
an audio professional told me i could switch the power cable i was a little iffy about it, promised myself to get a switch with RUBBER round the switch, but i heard that discharging a capacitor was dangerous less done right so i gave it up,
the switch will be used to turn off the amp and sub when around GFs parents |
Your head unit should have the ability to turn off your subs. No offense but you shouldn't be screwing around with electricity.
|
im just weary of capacitors

Sounds like you have a lot to learn my friend. My recommenation to you is to at least have some one around who knows what they're doing if you decide install your own system. Many things can go wrong afterwards if it's not wired properly and you're going to be kicking yourself with all the trouble shooting later. |

whoever told you thats NOT a professional and should STFU and die. They are an idiot... And is the last person who should be giving advice. YOU DO NOT PUT A SWITCH ON THE 12V POWER LINE. I cant stress that loud enough... |
here you will find everything you will ever need to know!make sure you read and learn before you end up getting hurt or burning up the car

You should be warry of capacitors. They're designed to store energy and discharge it. Think of a 9 volt battery on your tounge. It dispences it's energy over time... Now some capacitors are designed to hold gods third leg and discharging it wrong will give it to you all at once we're talking 1 INSTANT you just got violated by god, please fall down and don't get up.
|
To be honest a 1/2 or even 1 farad cap is more trouble than it's worth, having to deal with charging and all. Just leave out the cap, IMO. Aftermarket radios have a output labeled remote, put a switch in between that. My stock radio didn't have a remote wire so I wired up to a switched fuse and put a switch in between that.

i realize that guy is an idiot, and i realize not to do that, hence i havent? and yes i know why to be weary of a capictor, thats why i been trying to understand how to safely discharge them, but a lot of smart$$$s just tell me to put my hand across it
|
Ack, just lick it like a 9V battery...
To answer your question Im not 100% sure on that myself. I have a couple questions regarding caps I need to research. How to safely discharge and how to test them. |
OMG if you lick that thing post on youtube...LOL
|
It will be right up there with the Habenero pepper kid...

i'd think the biggest trouble of switching the power line... would be how to connect a wire thats, at least 8ga, to a switch. it'd take a good electrician to pull that off, and they'd know better.
essentially, what your looking to do is use the remote wire on a switch. from headunit(remote wire)-----switch--------amp this will allow you to turn the amp on and off, but only when the car is on. so if by mistake you leave it on when you leave the car, it turns off anyway. Those remote wires are there for a reason, and for this exact reason. (on both sides. the amp side and the headunit side. they built it there to be used, don't ignore it) and my buddy who was somewhat of an audio/electrical genius always told me, to just connect a small 12V lightbulb to the capacitor. something that requires very little current. When the bulb goes out, the current is gone. And led would work too. And since they run only .02a, that thing will be VERY discharged when it goes out... it'll just take a while. |
