1 Brake makes creaking/clicking noise?

My drivers front caliper... When I press on it it makes a creaking/clicking type noise. Like something not lubed up or is hanging up. The brakes seem to work well, but its f'ing annoying with the windows down.

It does it ALL the time. When is tart to press the pedal it starts to make noise.

As I said the brakes seem to work fine. THe cars not pulling to a side or anything.

Im thinking the Caliper is on its way out (dead?)???

I think i got replacement... :)

search 'creaking brakes'.

Yeah, very common. Take the caliper apart, clean the moving parts and re-lube it all up good. Or just replace the caliper.

z00m actually others with this problem.

lol

Well ok then.

NickAlero2000 04-14-2009 07:29 PM

Mine did it after I replaced my wheel bearing, its just the way the brakes wear and such, nothing serious.

EXTREME EDIT
Caliper siezed.

There is actually a TSB out on that problem. I did it to mine that were doing the exact same thing and it fixed it. There is an oil by a company named Kluber I think it is. The dealer sells it in these tiny little bottles. One for each caliper. You squirt it between the piston and boot and walla, no more noise. I thought I had posted the actual GM number for it a couple of years ago. :coolio:

mines been doing this... come to find out, my caliper pins on the passanger side were completely siezed in place. Just got parts, will have it fixed monday. (working solid until then)

i did it yesterday on my 99',i replaced the two front calipers cause the caliper pistons were making creaking noise, now its perfect and no more noise, but for the one with this problem,i had to heat the bleeder valve to make turn cause it was welded together!!

Special oil! Snake oil?

Dang it. Oh well a brand new caliper was only $33. At least it wasnt to bad...

My caliper pins are all good. I bought a big bottle of caliper grease and I use it accordingly.

Yes I have noticed this on my '99 Alero. The problem is with the calipers. It's happened a few times but I just have the calipers re-lubed every time it happens. I go to Tireman Auto Center (if you've ever heard of them) and they actually do it for free.

Ya I know where Andersons Tireman is :)

I got a new issue that Developed as I left ASS.

I think my tie rod end on the drivers side is shot.

It make s a weird creeking noise, not like the brakes. Only when I turn...

Argh stupid Alero.

The dealership sells a lube thingy for it.

It's $6 ;)

My mom's van had the same sound and it ended up being something with the suspension. Sorry I don't know the specifics on what was wrong, but I know it was something with the suspension. You might want to check that as well.

NickAlero2000 07-08-2009 02:39 PM

Got an alignment today.
Apparently this creaking is a siezed caliper. Replacing later today.
For future reference, thought I should tell everyone.
