LIMG repair... stuck again :D

So I've got everything off of the top end, except one bolt on the LIM, blocked by... part of the fuel rail. Yes, I'm having problems with the fuel rail, AGAIN

I have REMOVED the nut circled in red from the fuel rail. However, the physical line that the nut is attached to, which feeds into the fuel rail, doesn't seem like it wants to come out. I need to get the line out so that I can access the bolt.

Do I just pull on this line, pulling it toward the driver side wheel? It doesn't feel like it wants to come out, and being that it is a metal fuel line, I'd rather not snap it.

Judging by this pic from the LIMG repair walkthrough, I'm assuming the line comes out, but how?

Thanks

wiggle and spin the fuel rail, but first you have to disconect the harness and all that. but while twisting it pull fuel rail towards passanger and line towards driver. and that bolt can be a pain in the ass usually it takes a universal

Disconnect the harness... so I need to pull the injectors out? Or try? Because that fuel line that's still attached is pretty much preventing the fuel rail from doing much moving.

cherrington17 08-14-2009 06:55 PM

is that bolt one of the angled LIM bolts?

I left my fuel rail in place.

hmm... that might have been the one that i used a wrench to get, instead of a socket.

Yep, I believe the new torque specs refer to it as one of the "vertical" bolts.

bkathsalero 08-14-2009 07:04 PM

your first step is to get that other line off

mfuller 08-14-2009 07:11 PM

You know, you don't even have to disconnect the fuel lines....
Just undo the clamp that holds the feed and return lines to the cylinder head, unbolt the fuel rail brackets from the LIM, and remove the fuel rail and injectors as one assembly. Use tape or something else to tie it out of the way so you cantake the LIM off. This is how dealership techs do it.

/\/\ I'm pretty sure he's right cuz thats how stan the tech next to me does it to i believe, but I just pull everything

jrim 08-14-2009 08:02 PM

Good call mfuller, undoing the clamp definitely helped. The fuel injectors were being stubborn and I'm not really looking to get much dirtier tonight so I'll probably finish yankin the rail out tmrw. Thanks again.
