Rear Speaker Deck

GRR its ANNOYING! when i listen to heavy bass songs, the thing rattles, like plasti on
plastic rattle, it's very annoying, and i wondered what i could do about it, i cant find the source or the rattle, it seems like the entire back thing is rattling, what can i do?

cherrington17 11-14-2009 08:27 AM

i thought mine did that... but it turned out to be a wire harness in the C pillar. Check those. One of the plugs that hold them to the sheet metal, wasn't clipped in.

hasn't done it since.

sound deadener, i used fatmat on the rear deck, under the back seat and the trunk and trunk lid.

where did you put the fatmat? i might try that

and all the clips are in place, i was just in both sides a week or so ago, to fix my rear defroster

i removed the carpeted deck cover, the back seat bottom, and all of the trunk carpet and fat matted all of the metal, top part of the deck only.

check the speakers, may have blown one, and if they are DVCs then 1 coil may have blown

A little off topic, but isn't that sub rated at 400 watts rms, not 2000?

And rattle issue, i gave up with my subs beating up the rear deck. But with your setup only being stock with no subs to worry about, sound deadener would be your best option. Just go with the forum discount cheery pointed out or pick something up cheap off of eBay.

alero_bmxer 11-15-2009 01:31 AM

i put some thin foam weather stripping between the deck and window and the rattle stopped
