Power Steering help
Hey I have a 2000 Alero 2.4L and my steering wheel seems to be locked up. I checked the power steering fluid and there is more then enough. I can drive it but it requires a hell of a lot of man power to turn the wheel. What could be the problem?

Yes, thats exactly what happened . Do you think the mechanic will know the problem is from a drift?

Do you think the Power Steering Pump failure was do to my drift or was it just time for a new one and it craped out?

just replaced my pump in my 2000 gls yesteday ( $150 ) took me 3 hrs. borrowed a pully puller from the auto parts store for free ( $90) deposit. the new pump didn't come with a pulley. its not hard to do really.

Hm, As you guys know, I just got a new power steering pump. I have already encountered a problem. If I hold the brake and turn the wheel, it vibrates the car like hell. Gah does this mean I need ANOTHER PUMP?!

Does it vibrate ALL THE TIME, or only at FULL turn? If only at full turn, check to make sure fluid is full. My mom had a Pinto that always vibrated and chattered at full turn.

Hey man, it was a '76 Pinto stationwagon, and I had soooooo much fun learning to drive in that car. My sister finally killed it though, by getting T-Boned in an intersection. Good thing she didn't get rear-ended!!!!

It Doesn't happen when you drive it, it is only happens when your idling and you turn the wheel, its not at a full turn, its any turn, even less then a quarter turn.
