Cat Back Exhaust
I feel like this is a stupid question but it is better to not have a resonator right? The reason I'm asking is because i want to have a cat back exhaust with the stock cat and right now i have a camaro/firebird style muffler and i want to make sure it will sound good and if there is any i should put in place of the resonator to gave me a good low sound.

its personal preference. the stock exhaust comes with a resonator. i had it removed when i had my cat back installed. my understanding is the resonator removes the high pitch tones from the exhaust note, since i run a flowmaster 40 series, there isnt much a high tone to remove.

Yeah with a flowmaster 80 in there, you can pull the res out and put a straight pipe in there

If you're getting a cat-back exhaust made, the resonator is behind the cat and will be deleted. The stock resonator is incredibly restrictive and I suggest to anyone to remove it when installing a new exhaust. If you were to install a new resonator with the new exhaust, it'll just quiet down the tone a bit....it is, after all, just a smaller muffler. Just make sure you get a straight through, perforated core resonator for unrestriicted flow.

if you are getting a custom cat back made, just tell them to not include the resonator. if all you are going to do is remove the resonator and leave the stock muffler, dont even bother.

This is a stupid question but I know a resonator has nothing to do with this but you will still pass emisions right?
