well if money is no object, why don't you get a set-up for your room like i have 500 watt pioneer amp, 2 cv speakers in the front with 2 10s in each, 2 speakers in the back with a 15 in each powered by a secondary amp all topped off with a CV powered 12. I would get sick of the shit after hours and hours on end, so I would just start blasting country or the oldies or even better, delilah after dark...they would turn their down...otherwise, they couldn't hear over mine

yeah.... for what its going to cost to run your car subs in the dorm, your better off setting up a new system indoors.

A friend of mine had his subs out of his car in his room, it was pretty cool, but I have no idea how he did it. (wiring and what wall plug, etc)

I definitely wouldn't have any problem beating that out with my home system either. Infinity CSW10 (10", 650w amp) sub, Beta50 ( two 8" woofers each) speakers and a Harman Kardon receiver.
However to use your car subs inside, you'd need one heck of an inverter to use the 12v amp. Or just get a high power amp to run them, as long as you have the right frequencies.

You don't have to have a invertor. Hook up a car battery to your cars amp and sub. It will play for a good couple of minutes. If you have a battery charger, then plug it up to the battery and slam the heck out of the sub. If your daring, you can even bypass the battery and place the charger directly on the amp. That will give you 14.4 volts opposed to the 12 from the battery. Just look at the chargers amp rating too ensure you don't pull too much.
