Just thought id let you guys know

I dont know how many ppl here drive an automatic alero but i just was taught a new way to kind of get more out of it when racing most of you probably know how to do this already but i thought id share if you didnt, If racing at a stop light with an automatic drop it into 1st gear and sit there when it hits green drive it like a manual (shift wise since theres no clutch) everytime you hit the appropriate noise of the rpms shift it into second then third and then ending it in drive (kind of like 1st 2nd 3rd 4th, I drive a 3400 V6 so i dont know if all the aleros have that many gears) It works pretty well, also when on the highway and some one wants to race you at a 60 roll or whatever drop your gear from Drive into 3rd gear and hit it until you get to the appropriate rpm then put it into drive again, it gives you that little extra boost, I hope this helped some of my fellow alero brothers and sisters out, i know its not much but its something you can practice and do without spending money on making it faster.

Love and Bruises Matt

Umm..not in the least. Manual shifting with our autos is a no-no. Your butt dyno may tell you differently but track times are facts. If you're racing put it on 3 and lave it there.

yup, Sik hit it on the nose.

I went to the track (before PowrTuner) and raced 6 times in one night, same air/engine temps for each run, and each time using a different launch/shift combination. All 6 runs came within .05 of each other, and MPH's all within 3mph at the trap.

Tried manually shifting, then tried leaving it in 3, and then tried it with a B&M shift-plus (the fastest of my runs by .03), and various RPM powerbraking. If you want to do something that will increase your shifting abilities, you're going to have to go in and change things in the computer, like line pressures, shift points, TCC and torque management settings.
